do you take inspiration from nature?

I love the mood & feelings that autumn colours convey, the warmth and comfort they provide. When I look at this photo I think of my dad’s homemade apple crumble. Haversting apples from the tree in our garden would be a family effort when September arrived. My mum would peel and chop each apple into bitesized pieces, and divide them into containers ready to freeze. Watching dad make each crumble became a ritual, recreating the recipe his mother made for him throughout his childhood. A recipe now ready to be passed on to the next generation - dad explained how to get the perfect crumble texture, a beautiful combination of crunchy and delicate. And of course the right fruit to crumble ratio, although my preference would always be extra crumble. An unending source of warming apple crumbles ready for the coming months - the taste of autumn was set.

That is, until we run out of apples and the cycle begins again next year.

i’m currently in bed with covid, and now craving apple crumble! So I would love to hear what this photo makes you think of…

I do love the warmth & vibrancy of summer but there is something so cosy & nostalgic about autumn, that just makes you want to fall in love 🍂
