Some photographs already carry a story before we even say a word. 🍂

These are a few of the images I created last Sunday during my Sunset Stories Workshop, and the woman in them is Lara.

Lara and I have been friends and creating together for 12 years. Once again, she trusted me and stepped in front of the camera — this time as the model for my students — and I honestly couldn’t have asked for anyone better.

And today makes sharing these photographs even more special, because it’s her birthday. 🤎

Happy birthday, Lara. Thank you for 12 years of friendship, creativity and for always being willing to step into another one of my ideas.

If you don’t know her work yet, Lara creates content around fantasy literature — and I mean… could there be a more perfect season for her? The autumn light, the books, the textures, the colours… these photographs feel like they belong to her world.

AI isn’t the problem.
But where do we draw the line?

As a photographer, I don’t just create “pretty pictures”. I create from the person in front of me — their identity, their presence, their story.

And lately, I’ve been watching photographs I created become the starting point for endless AI-generated versions that I never consented to.

But there’s another question that stays with me:

When we constantly generate images of who we wish we were — different clothes, different hair, different bodies, different lives — at what point do we stop recognising the person in the mirror?

I’m genuinely curious, especially from other photographers, artists and creatives:

How do you feel about your work being used to generate AI images without your permission?

And for everyone else: where do you think the line should be?

I was in front of the camera, but I already knew exactly what I wanted to create — so I simply guided Iara through my vision.

This is what pure happiness looks like. 😂😭✨

New lights have just arrived at Lemon Santos Studio and honestly… I am SO excited about everything I’m going to create with them.

Because every time I invest in something new, my first thought is always: what can I create for you with this?

New light. New possibilities. New ideas already running through my head. And trust me… the images we’re about to create are going to be something else.
