One for the photographers!

So, this has been a while in the making... 😎

For years now, conversations with commercial photographers keep starting the same way: “Can I run something past you?”

Whether it's a pitch that's due on Friday, a portfolio they've been staring at for so long they've become blind to it, a shoot that looked simple on paper until permits and logistics got involved - or an image that's been edited so many times it’s lost whatever it had to begin with.

And I’ve always said yes where I could. Calls, portfolio reviews, location research, the odd multi-page email in the middle of the night, the list goes on...

But here's the problem: The only "official" way to get any of that from me was to book an hour of my time, which told you nothing about what I’d actually look at, what you’d walk away with, or whether an hour was even enough for your particular headache.

(Most people asking me these things have no idea how much time their problem needed, because that’s exactly why they’re asking me in the first place.)

So I’ve sorted it properly.

ACCESS is now live, and it’s basically everything above, with a bit of business shape to it:

Image, portfolio and website reviews. Award and qualification support. Shoot planning. Editing and workflow help. A genuinely thorough look at proposals, pricing, or whatever business decision is keeping you up at night.

There’s still a straight 1:1 option too, because there's always that one thing that doesn't quite fit into any of those boxes, don't worry.

Every single thing on that page has come out of a real conversation with a real photographer during 25 years of assignments, print production, expeditions and award judging.

I’ve just finally given each one a proper scope, so you know what you’re getting before you book it instead of guessing.

Unwoven. Stokksnes, Iceland 🇮🇸

Those who know me, know that while I’ve shot this place a thousand times, I’d still shoot it a thousand more - and at low tide, the view of Vestrahorn stops being the photograph everyone thinks they know.

The black sand opens up into channels, threads and traces form braided strands beneath your feet, each one catching the first of the morning light before the sea takes it all back again.

And it forces that iconic mountain to become the supporting act for a brief moment.

Captured at Stokksnes, Iceland, where the weather usually has other plans and the tide has absolutely no interest in your schedule or shoe choices.

Still debating here - Would you have called this one Unwoven, or would “Strands” have won in your mind?

"Permits?" - They've almost become a swear-word for eager photographers out there, and I know some who feel that by *not* having one, they've gained a badge of honour. 🤦‍♂️
Let's not have that become our industry standard for respect, eh? 🤷‍♂️

Uluru, Australia - a great example of where it's needed, and it works.

✈️ Yes, it’s far away.
🦟 Yes, it’s full of bugs.
📋 Yes, you really do need a permit,
🌄 Yes, it’s awesome to experience,
😎 and yes, it’s most definitely worth it.

(Oh, and it happens to make a great photographic subject too...)

(Still an 8km round-trip ice-hike in the winter to get there, though, when the mountain roads are shut!)
