I tried to make a reel of all the women I’ve worked with recently. Hours of trying to match clips to audio, and a divorce later, I’ve given up….

Instead of faffing with a reel, I should have just posted this portrait of brilliant Faye Watts, co-founder of FUSE ACCOUNTANTS

If anyone sums up the theme of International Women’s Day - Give as gain - it’s her.

I met Faye many years ago at one of my first ever networking meetings. She is generous with her time, energy, knowledge and experience, and supports women with a passion.

Back then, she was an advocate for my work and my business when I was too full of imposter syndrome to feel wholly confident doing it for myself.

All these years later (too many to count!) I’m so happy to still have her as a client and a friend.

When we lift women we lift everyone.

And on IWD I celebrate all of the women
who created space and those who continue to shape the world in wonderful ways. 🙌

What are your photos saying about you and your business?

I love to capture how it FEELS to work with you.

That might include coo slippers and carrots, who knows….

I really enjoyed working with . She has such a joyful, empowering presence. Can you feel it?

Engaging photos in the right colours and styles can make all the difference to how excited you feel to be ‘visible’.

Spending time with these fantastic women reminded me why I love this collaboration with so much. It’s our opportuntiy to help three women to feel more confident in who they are and what they do – not shinier just more themselves.

Three women. Three very different worlds.

Anna at holds people through charity work that’s emotional, complex and deeply people-based.

Mahalia feeds people – literally – with food rooted in heritage, care, and nourishment.

Alex handles artwork that carries beauty, memories, meaning.

Different sectors. Different energy. But the same responsibility: their clients trust them to care deeply.

And that’s what these photos had to do too.

Not just “look professional”
Not “smile nicely”.
But ‘feel’ right.

Calm. Grounded. Warm.
Capable without being flashy.
Intentional. Human.

Good personal brand photos give people a sense of who you’ll be to work with before they ever meet you.

All three came in confident in their work — but nervous about being photographed. It was wonderful seeing them feel fabulous in bolder colours and the outfits they’d chosen with Annabel’s guidance. Then watching them let go and relax in front of the camera, knowing they were in safe hands.

And the feedback afterwards said it all, ‘these look like me, but a bolder, more confident, more me ‘me’ than I ever expected to see in my photos’.

Finally having photos that they love. And photos they are proud to use for their business.

If you’re a woman building something meaningful, and you’ve been making do with selfies or non-professional photos that don’t quite fit anymore… we’d love to help 🥰

Every year, to mark International Women’s Day, The Natural Stylist and I gift our styling services and brand photography to three female founders.

This year, we were thrilled to select as one of them.

Firstly, Annabel used Colour Analysis to discover Alex’s most flattering palette, then she selected outfits to suit Alex’s and her business vibe.

🎨 Alex is an artist (landscape painter) and a high-end picture framer — which means she works in detail, with care.
People trust her with work that is valuable, emotional, sometimes irreplaceable. That trust matters.

Alex wanted photographs that felt professional, confident, approachable and real. Images that reflected the person her clients meet when they walk through her door.

Like so many small business owners, she understood the importance of being visible, but had held back. Cost. Time. And the very real fear of doing a shoot… and hating every photo.

Our location, the wonderful Gathering Space , is full of beautiful artwork, which created a meaningful backdrop for Alex’s photos.
With thoughtful styling and calm, guided photography, she moved from hoping it would work to trusting the process. From being aware of the camera, to barely noticing it. From dressing practically by default, to realising she could inject colour, warmth and personality without losing herself.

When she saw the final images, her words were simple and telling: “They look like they belong in a magazine article about me.”

And that’s the point. These aren’t loud or shouty photos. They communicate care, credibility, warmth and quiet confidence — exactly what her clients are looking for before they ever make contact.

People buy from people, especially when you’re selling art, creativity and meaning.

And when you’re ready to be visible — the right images don’t change who you are. They simply help others recognise it.

For the last three years, to mark International Women’s Day, The Natural Stylist and I gift our styling services and brand photography to three female founders.

This year, we were delighted to work with Anna Campbell as one of our three.

Through colour analysis, Annabel found Anna’s most flattering palette. Then she went through the outfits Anna brought along, refining what felt most aligned for the photo session.

Before her shoot, Anna told me she was very nervous. Not just “I don’t like having my photo taken” nervous —but the kind of nerves that come from wanting to show up as the real you, the version you know yourself to be … and worrying that the photos won’t reflect that.

Anna’s business is High View Virtual Assistance, she works as a consultant in the charity and events sector. Her work relies on trust, calm, compassion, and people feeling held safely. She needed images that felt professional and credible — but also human. Images that actually felt like her.

Her shoot was never about faking confidence or trying to make Anna act like someone she isn’t. Instead, we focused on calm over performance, presence over posing, and warmth without losing authority.

The aim was simple - to show who she is, not just what she looks like.

What I love most was Anna’s feedback afterwards. When she looks at her images now, she sees her personality - someone friendly, professional, and trustworthy. Someone her ideal clients would feel comfortable working with.

And that matters.

Especially for values-led professionals, the goal isn’t to look louder or more “polished”. It’s to look coherent. To feel like yourself — and the responsibility you carry — in the same frame.

It’s also worth saying that nerves are incredibly common. Anna almost talked herself out of this opportunity, waiting to feel “ready”. I’m really glad she didn’t.

Well done Anna! 🙌 🌟

If you’ve been thinking “I’ll do it when I feel more confident” — this is your reminder that confidence often comes after, not before.

For the last three years, to mark International Women’s Day, The Natural Stylist and I gift our styling services and brand photography to three female founders.

This year, Mahalia was one of them – and it was a joy to work with her.

Through colour analysis, Annabel identified Mahalia’s most flattering palette, then refined her outfits to suit the shoot. Moving from Autumn tones into a Winter palette made a noticeable difference – bolder and more aligned.

Mahalia is an award-winning chef specialising in Guyanese 🇬🇾 and Caribbean cuisine. She’s also building a business supporting menopausal women through food and wellbeing. Her work is rooted in nourishment, trust, and experiences.

Before the shoot, Mahalia wasn’t even sure she needed professional styling and brand photos. What she did know was that she wanted to be more visible online and to feel more professional - particularity as she grows her wellness business this year. She wanted to show up with greater confidence and credibility as a small business owner.

My aim was to capture Mahalia’s warmth, and vibrant personality in a way that felt real and inviting — and to create images that could work across both sides of her business.

Location mattered. We chose the beautiful The Gathering Space at which suited all 3 women, and with its professional kitchen, was a perfect fit for Mahalia.

Mahalia was completely at ease in front of the camera so it wasn’t about creating confidence from scratch for her — it was about capturing her presence and energy, and letting that come through clearly.

After the shoot Mahalia said that she felt supported, calm, and at ease throughout the experience. That her business now feels more professional online. And, most importantly, she feels more confident in her body, more confident as a woman, and more confident as a small business owner.

I love that.

For award-winning businesswomen like Mahalia, the goal isn’t just showing up — it’s showing up exceptionally.

Before → after transformations.

Every year, in celebration of International Women’s Day, (The Natural Stylist) and I offer our styling services + brand photography for free to three female founders.

Women who:

– haven’t had professional photos before
– have been avoiding it for years
– don’t feel “ready”
– don’t know what to wear
– or simply hate having their photo taken

(Which, honestly, is most women.)

This year we worked with , and

We asked them to send us photos they were currently using online, or a selfie if that was all they had.

And then we did the work - to shift their visibility from incidental to intentional.

👗 After discovering their best palette Annabel went through everything they brought along to her studio refining what felt most flattering and aligned for the shoot. All three of them also bought some new pieces in their newly discovered colour palette.

📸 On my side, I focused on helping each woman feel grounded and present in front of the camera — creating connection through eye contact, relaxed expression, and natural, flattering posture.

🌟 My aim is always the same: to help women be visible, and feel safe enough to show up as themselves.

Here’s what that looked like ↓

Mahalia
Before: She wasn’t even sure she needed this.

After: She felt beautiful, clear in her style, more confident in her body. Seen - as herself.

✨ “This experience helped me feel more beautiful and more confident in my body.”

Anna
Before: She avoided the camera and hid behind her services instead of showing herself. She kept waiting to feel ready.

After: She relaxed. And for the first time, she recognised herself in the images. Friendly and people-centred. Trustworthy. Real. Confident.

✨ “I finally have photos I’m proud to use.”

Alex
Before: She knew photos mattered but being styled and photographed felt indulgent. Almost too much. And what if she didn’t like the results?

After: She looked at her images and thought: that’s me… but brighter. Confident. Approachable. Creative.

✨ “Like me, but not me — in the best possible way.”

Everytime this photo pops up from it reminds me just how important it is to find to space and time for yourself - whether that’s being creative or replenishing your soul with some solitude.

The shot itself was taken in a moment when the sun cut a bright line of light through the fitness studio. I asked wonderful model .schute to sit in the beam. The moment was so powerful - dramatic and peaceful all at once. Then it was gone. Magic.
