Curried Celeriac & Parsnip Soup 🥣⁣

Hey everyone, something different for you all today! I had a photoshoot with a local food delivery company and I got some beautiful veg from that photoshoot, perks of the trade. I decided since I was doing pictures anyway I would do some extra photos of the veg used in a recipe. If I get anymore ‘healthy’ photoshoots I’ll be sure to post them on here as well. Two birds one stone and I always like to show my work. ⁣

The recipe is up on my blog, link in bio. 👊🏻⁣

Disclaimer, I did not make any of this or find the recipe. I did however cut the bread if that gets me any points. ⁣

VISION BOARD 2021 - It’s that time of year where plans and goals are set out, and this is what I like to do for mine. Got the idea from and it worked wonders last year so here’s to another year. The idea is to have a visual poster. To remind you of your goals for the year. If you’re constantly reminded of them even subconsciously you’re more inclined to work towards them. ⁣

So these are my goals for 2021:⁣

1. 5000 followers - Think context is important with this one, for me chasing followers isn’t something that should be a goal, but hear me out. For me social media is a way to connect and get your content in front of people. This year I started my own business and I’ve also had the privilege to interact with some amazing people. So an increase in followers will help me from a business standpoint, help connect with more amazing people on this platform and it’s nice to get my content out there to more people.⁣

2. Handstand - Always wanted to be able to do one. Was on my list last year but was the only thing I’ve not cracked yet. Sooooooo here it is again 😂⁣

3. £1500 in a month - Mentioned before and I’m sure a few of you are aware that I set my own business up this year (.creative). I love doing my photography work and I want to make sure I can keep doing what I love to do. So this is a business goal of mine and to maintain it during 2021. ⁣

4. 200kg Deadlift - A real strength test for me with this one. Currently on 165kg so let’s make that a nice round number. ⁣

What’s everyone else’s goals for the year? 👊🏻

A YEAR IN PROGRESSION CHALLENGE. ⚠️⚠️⚠️ If you’ve seen my story you’ll probably know I got a lil fun game for you all.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
This year has had people doing home training maybe for the first time or messing with people’s regular training. But people forget progress has still been made whether it be physical or mental. So to remind people that even during 2020 progress has still been made I challenge for you all. This is what you do:⁣⁣
⁣⁣
1. Take my template which I’ve put on my story (or dm me if you want it). ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
2. Write down 3 exercises and what you were doing at the start of the year & what you did at the end. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
3. Tag three friends and share it to your stories to show people the progress you made despite what 2020 threw at you.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
4. Tag me too if you want so I can check out some of the progress you all have been making this year.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Let’s see what people have done. I’ve also done my last blog post of the year on it as well. Links in bio 👊🏻⁣⁣

BLOG POST MONDAYS - Here we go round✌🏻since everyone enjoyed the first blog post where I talked about sleep, rest & it’s importance. This time I talk about how to get the most out of your sleep & how to make it easier to drift off. If you read my last blog post you know the importance of sleep but getting it isn’t as easy as it should be. ⁣

Personally it’s something I really struggle with, when my head hit’s the pillow it’s like my brain suddenly decides to switch on. And I end up having a million and one different though. When I have bad days with anxiety I know I’m not sleeping much that night! Which then goes on to effect my mood & motivation.⁣

So this is what I want to know, what are your tips to make it easier to drift off to sleep? If you’ve read my blog post you’ll know my top two, links in the bio if you haven’t.⁣

POST CHALLENGE: ⁣

Going to set little challenges for people who read my content at the bottom of the post. So this one is to reach 10 SAVES on this post. Let’s see how you all do 👊🏻⁣

Injuries, How To Get Over Them And How To Prevent Them 👊🏻⁣

Been a while since a non fitness photoshoot blog post and it’s a good one. With gym’s shut a lot of people are turning to home training to keep active, but a lot of people are still getting injured. This blog post has a bit about preventing injuries and maybe why some people are not being as careful as they would be if they were at the gym. 🏋🏻 ⁣Links in the bio 👊🏻

But the part I wanted to focus on was helping people get through their injuries and start training again from a mental health point of view. For me personally if I can’t train my mood drops, it’s something I love to do and if I don’t have that routine then I really struggle.⁣

There’s a link for a lot of people whether they can’t train because their injured or they can’t train because the gyms closed. A lot of people’s mental health is currently being effected. So when I’m injured and can’t train this is what I do:⁣

1 - Find myself a project I can work on to keep my mind busy. This instagram and my blog was amazing when I was injured during lockdown. I was able to think of blog topics, write about them and create photoshoots (non lifting based photoshoots).⁣

2 - Stay active as much as I can. Sometimes not always possible but it could be a step goal or training only a select few muscles and being veryyyy careful.⁣

3 - Talk to people. Surround yourself with people to help you through the patch. It’s fine to be open and honest and say I’m not doing alright. I know for a fact that there’s relationships with people I’ve built up on here who check in one me and I am eternally grateful to them. You know who you are⁣

If you’ve read this far thanks, as always its important to create a conversation with regards anything mental health related. So if you’re comfortable, what do you do when you can’t train that helps you? Whether it be through injury or with the gym’s not being open.⁣

Need some advice from you all if that’s alright. ⁣✌🏻

Whats your tips on balancing time? ⁣

I love this account and talking all things fitness but obviously I’ve not been posting as frequently as I used to. I’m doing more work with my photography and obviously a new business takes a lot of effort.

I think it’s a balance between taking a break and focusing on priorities but like I said I love posting content here and want to keep consistent. ⁣

I’m not saying that I have zero time to spend on here and everything I’m doing is consumed with my business. I just think I can be more efficient. ⁣

So what you all got for me. Best advice gets a digital high five 🖐🏻 ⁣

3 Failed Lifts in one week. ⛔️ I’ve hit a plateau so I’m taking the weights off and taking a step back. During the past 8 months or so, I’ve had a goal of mine to work on my bench, squat and deadlifts. Training for strength is something I’ve never done before and I neglected doing legs properly for such a long time. But after failing to complete progressive overload for probably 2/3 weeks now I think it’s my body saying to take a break for a bit and focus on other areas of training. For reference this is what I failed on.⁣

170kg - Sumo Deadlift⁣
170kg - Squat⁣
107.5kg - Bench Press⁣

This doesn’t mean I’m not going to push for PB’s in the future but it obvious to me I need to focus on two things:⁣

1. Maintaining technique ⁣
2. Accessory lifts ⁣

I haven’t been neglecting other lifts but maybe not giving them as much focus and progression as I could have been. I could have probably hit those PB’s but my form would have gone out of the window and I could have ended up injuring myself.⁣

Lesson, always take a step back and evaluate whether you’re going in the right direction. ⁣
