Rob Tomlin Photography

Rob Tomlin Photography I like pushing buttons... one in particular. It's an odds-on-bet you've seen my work at some point, either in print or on a billboard or even on television.

I've shot everything under the sun, (and studio lights) over the years... and still do, from fine jewellery brochures to automotive, from fashion assignments on a sunny foreign beach to the biggest room-sets... after all I'm a photographer, and think I can turn my lens to most things that come my way. I prefer to craft images in-camera with old-school lighting techniques rather than rely on photos

hop trickery, but that said the final image is all important regardless how it was achieved. I work any-where and every-where both in this country and others, and of course I can supply all my own equipment for any project, (Phase One, Hasselblad, Canon, Arri, Broncolor). The clients i've shot for is far too long to go through here, but includes most of the home interest companies, fashion houses, blue-chip and not so blue businesses. Currently I've been helping The Home Retail Group (Argos, Homebase & Habitat) and Next Home Shopping with their on-line photography requirements, and Imperial Bathrooms shooting some very nice brochure room-sets. Additionally to my 'behind-the-camera' experience i've quite a few years under my belt in a managerial roll... I've been studio manager, production manager and at the head of running client accounts for more than one studio. I know what is required to organise and shoot any scale of project from initial client contact, to briefings, to sourcing people and delivering the job on time and on budget. There is no substitute for experience and I have it in spades ! More of my images can be viewed at my website, www.robtomlin.com

Love my job ! Last week deserves a special mention to RIG for allowing me to shoot the interiors for some Swift Group static caravans, with these lovely stylists šŸ“ø down near Hull… which also looked lovely against my expectations!

Just need to mention I’m NOT retired… but in waiting !
Long time no work post … I’m away soon on assignment, shooting for Smyths Toys Superstores amongst other things, and obviously adding to my ever expanding Highlands landscape series of fine art images. Until I’m allowed to post some recent work though here’s a few images shot for ScandibĆørn awhiles ago šŸ“ø

A very quick thanks to everyone that visited my first exhibition, and many apologies I’ll not be continuing today (Monday) as planned… I’ve so little pieces left to show unfortunately I thought it best to end on a high! A huge thanks to everyone at the Royal Dornoch Golf Club for allowing me the space in their magnificent building, it was a privilege for me is an understatement. Pieces can still be viewed (and bought) through my folio website www.robtomlin.com just be sure to write in your contact details into the body of any messages please. Thankyou everyone.

Morning folks ! It’s Sunday and remarkably it’s another glorious day here at the Royal Dornoch Golf Club… 3 days on the trot, some might say it’s my very presence that’s bringing the sunshine but I can’t take all the credit šŸ˜‰. It’s looking like it’ll be a busy day on the greens ā›³ļø and I’m preparing myself NOT to be tempted by the aromas coming from the Sunday lunch carvery that’ll be on offer in the cafe upstairs šŸ– šŸ½ļø (I’m veggie after all). Anyways, I’ve decided to do one final day here with my exhibition. I’ve relocated from the cafe to the middle floor… you’ll not miss me as you come up the grand staircase on your way no doubt to the carvery. Hope to see you soon. šŸ“ø

Morning folks!
It’s Saturday and although not the sunshine and gentle breeze of the past couple of days it’s still a lovely day on the course ā›³ļø
My 3rd day of my exhibition here at Royal Dornoch Golf Club and might be my final day unfortunately. I had no idea my work would sell in the numbers they have done over the past 2 days and it’s left me a bit embarrassed… with a dwindling selection still on display I’ve had no time to make replacements. I know it’s quite good news for me but it’s something I didn’t plan for … what if my work is popular?! I’m kinda torn in wanting to put on the best possible experience and show the best of my work, but obviously sell the pieces also. So, I think I’ll have to cut it short, certainly I’ll not be here on Monday, but I’ll see how today goes. Lesson learnt though for next time I think !
Meanwhile, the managers and staff have made me really welcome so has an appreciation of their kindness I’ll be gifting a print of this image… just hope they don’t use for target practice on darts night ?! šŸ“ø
