If you are as into local history as I am then the two books by David Fargher of Newark Guide will be right up your alley - cobbled or otherwise!

Whilst my goal is to learn more about the owners behind Newark’s independent businesses and tell their stories, I’ve always looked around at the buildings and wondered what was there before. Before Starbucks. Before Porters Provisions. Before the printers that eventually became Porter’s Provisions. One of my favourite things to do was daydream about what went on before all this. Well now you don’t have to as these books give a humorous and concise look into Newark throughout the centuries and beyond.

Be sure to pick up a copy whilst you can.

Yesterday was a good day. It was a long time coming due to a few setbacks in the last few months but progress is being made on our first interview. Now to dive into the edit and make this a reality.

Welcome to Dirty Fresh media.

My mission is to showcase the wonderful independent businesses that our beautiful market town of Newark and its surrounding areas have to offer.

It’s hard seeing all the businesses that are closing around us, both large nationwide brands as well as smaller local businesses. Anybody that has started or even contemplated starting a business knows hows just hard it is and that it can be even harder to keep afloat. It takes sacrifice, determination and a huge investment that puts pressure on independent business owners.

It’s the stories behind these businesses that I want to share. The driving force, the desire and courage to start something wonderful, all form the blocks that come together to form YOUR story.

In the coming months I will be reaching out to local businesses owners to see if you would like to share the story of your business on camera with the local community. Let them know just how important local business are to a community and share some inspiration with others who want to do the same.
