Angi Wallace Creative Photography & Art Photographer with a passion for nature, close up and macro subjects and still life.

I do not as a general rule give permission for people to draw or paint my photographs as this has been counterproductive in the past, people have taken advantage and sold direct copies of my work. If you are interested in a licence to use my image then do please message me and we can discuss this.

Can a phone really create dreamy flower photography? 🌸📱

When Apexel kindly sent me their macro lens for smartphones, I wasn't expecting miracles...

So I set myself a challenge.

Could I create the soft, dreamy floral images I love using only my iPhone and this tiny macro lens?

Some attempts didn't quite work...
Some completely surprised me!

In this video I share the whole process—from battling the garden wind to experimenting with printed backdrops, Intentional Camera Movement, and editing—to see just how far phone photography can be pushed.

I'd love to know...

Which image is your favourite, and do you think a phone can produce truly dreamy flower photography?

Have you ever wanted to try submerged flower photography?

It looks beautifully simple... until you're faced with reflections, cloudy water, awkward lighting and hours of editing.

After years of experimenting (and making plenty of mistakes myself!), I've put together a new YouTube video covering the 7 biggest mistakes I see in submerged flower photography—and, more importantly, how to avoid them.

If you're thinking of giving this creative technique a try, hopefully it will save you a lot of frustration.

I'd love to know... which mistake surprised you the most?

The last of my Stitchworts have disappeared in the heat of the last week. Luckily I made the most of them whilst I could.

Would you believe this is a phone shot? Apexel very kindly gifted me the 10-20x zoom macro lens to try out on my phone. Its a perfect, easy option for hot days like these where you want to avoid exerting yourself with all your camera equipment. Not everyone owns a camera so I think these are a great option for people wanting to dip their toes into close up photography on their phones.
I decided to challenge myself to get some dreamy floral photos with this combo and will be creating a video with my experiences and results.

If you want to try the lens out yourself you can get a discount by using this link and entering the code below.

This is one of my watercolour paintings that had a plain white paper background, and is edited using my Muted Tones texture pack which is now available in my online store here - https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/AngiWallaceCreative?ref=shop-header-name&listing_id=4467278162&from_page=listing

Due to many requests on how to use textures in editing photos I created a few short Youtube videos to demonstrate how I use textures in different ways.

Over the last six weeks I've been photographing the same tiny patch of Red Campion growing in my garden.

What started as a simple lens comparison turned into something quite unexpected.

Using everything from macro lenses to vintage lenses, I discovered just how many different ways a single wildflower can be transformed through photography.

Some images looked realistic.

Others looked as though they'd come straight from a fairy tale.

I've put together a new YouTube video sharing the photographs, the lenses, and the surprising things I discovered whilst returning to the same flowers week after week.

Which image style do you prefer — realistic or dreamy?
