Me and the work wife Olivia are collaborating on a new "Beyond the Bio" branding & social workshop on Tuesday 9th December for small businesses who are feeling overwhelmed with their marketing and social strategy.

We both share the same values of wanting to make the world a better place, and one way we can do that is to support local purpose-led businesses get off the ground and grow.

My goal for this year is to be able to say I am an award-winning photographer and business owner. I'm now one step closer to realising that goal!

Why I'm attending this year's Female Founders Summit 2024!

The last time I was int’ local paper, I was probably around 10 years old. I was featured because my primary school had a “Golf Club” that taught the students how to play. So me and 2 other kids (I think one was my brother David but I can't remember… I know, I’m a terrible big sister) had our picture taken at our local golf course.

I didn’t even get the whole spotlight to myself . And I don’t even really like golf. Gutted. Even so my mum still has the clipping and, of course, was very proud.

For a long time I assumed I’d peaked and that was my ten minutes of fame all used up. I’ve been on Look East and featured in the Guardian since then, but that was as a representative of my previous company, not for anything I had specifically done.

So imagine my glee when Kim Hughes gives me a call to say that the organisers of the Female Founders Summit have put my name forward as one of the 10 female business owners to be featured in the press in the lead-up to the event.

Was I interested and happy to be interviewed? Erm… YES!

Lucienne Shakir’s Female Founders Summit is probably the biggest investment I have made in my own personal growth and development since starting my business in August last year.

I knew that in order for me and my business to survive I needed to;
🤝 Build up a community
🧠 Work on managing my own capacity and mental wellbeing
🏃‍♀️ Learn more about HOW to actually run a business
🏆 Start believing that I CAN do it. I can run a successful business!

I actually wrote my plans for 2024 back in November 2023. As a new business owner I knew I had a lot of groundwork to do before I could enter the new year.

I recently got to capture the most gorgeous little boy and his stunning mama.

I love at-home shoots for new mums and their babies. Everyone is so much more comfortable and relaxed!

There are so many benefits to having a newborn or baby shoot at home:
🔸️ Everything you need is to hand - toys, wetwipes, spare clothes, snacks are all within easy access.
🔸️ No need to prepare for a trip to a location or studio which can feel like a military operation with a small human.
🔸️ The baby is in an environment they know and so will show you more of their natural self and feel less stressed.
🔸️ You are showing your family in their natural, everyday environment for more authentic and meaningful shots.
🔸️ I can work around your baby's schedule.
🔸️ Greater access to props from around the home for more sentiment, interaction and comfort.
🔸️ The atmosphere will be more intimate than in a huge studio or outdoor space.

This little cherub was almost 5 months old, was so chilled, and loved interacting with me and my camera... look at that cheeky grin!
