George D**e Forgemasters

The late Mr.George D**e was born in Birmingham in 1826 and later moved to live in Willenhall where he worked as a bolt maker

The original site in Willenhall was once a piece of land belonging to Doctor Richard Wilkes, which eventually passed into the ownership of the Chapel of Ease estate. During the cholera epidemic in 1849, the land at the side of the forge was hastily turned into a burial ground and some 211 victims are believed to be buried there

The company now has a new site in Darlaston and work is booming

RAF Sculthorpe Control Tower

I have been past this old airbase many times over the years but never had the chance to fully explore the place. On a very cold (-2 degrees celcius) morning a couple of days into the new year myself along with some friends went to explore this place as well as another airbase down the road.

RAF Sculthorpe was built as the second satellite airfield of RAF West Raynham a few miles to the south. The airfield became inactive at the end of the Cold War and various land around the base sold to development companies. The airstrip area remains in military hands, officially as an army helicopter training area.

The first part we wanted to explore was the control tower which involved getting past some electrified fences (which were turned on as I found out haha) and a few hundred cows and their crap all over the place.

Once inside we soon realised the place was a bit of a mess and not a great deal to see. There were bullet casings laying around and target practice had taken place inside the building by the Army. Most fixtures and fittings had been ripped out and had a fine coating of bird crap in their place.

We didnt spend too long in here as there was a nice big shiny red surprise waiting for us next to the control tower.....

I am going to change how I post from now on and if you like it, or dont, please let me know as I would love your input. I have also had a little play with Lightroom (I admit I dont know how to use it properly yet lol) and my picture edits may look a little different. The same goes again, if you like the changes or not please let me know

Hope you enjoy!

This one is from a place I call Tree House. Not a lot in there and a bit of a mess but still worth an explore :-)
