Did you know that raindrops and cameras are similar in a way? 🌈📸

A raindrop is basically nature's microscopic photographer.

First, it acts like a camera lens, bending the sunlight as it enters, separating the light into its different colours. Then, like a camera, using mirrors to guide the light where it needs to go, the raindrop reflects the light off its inner surface before sending it back out into the world.

The result?

Millions of tiny raindrop cameras working together to create one giant rainbow across the sky 🌈📷

Yesterday was all about bouncing ideas around with the lovely team at Kin Lifetime Planning in preparation for their upcoming photo shoot.

Clients on my Half and Full Day Brand Photography Experience packages benefit from a collaborative image planning session. During this time, I find out lots about the business, team and personalities behind the brand, and we start to design a shot list that will help us to capture a collection of powerful and purposeful images for use across their entire business, leaving no image unused and unloved.

I don't just rock up and leave it to chance!

The team has already prepared a ton of ideas (love this) before I even walked through the door of their stunning office in Burton Joyce. They even had a shopping list so they could efficiently order what they needed in plenty of time.

We touched on their:

- typical customer
- client journey
- hobbies
- outfits
- props
- locations
- models
- the history of their building
- handmade mugs
- and so much more

Now we've got our ideas together it's time for me to piece it all together. I'll tie in everything we discussed and design a schedule, allowing us to get the best use of our time together on the day, and ensuring we leave no stone unturned.

The team and I are absolutely buzzing for a fun photo sesh, and I know we're going to have the best time together.

I'm so excited for this one!

My Bargain Photo Shoots are Back!

I'm delighted to announce that I'll be offering my popular Popup Photo Shoots at the FFS! For Female Success Festival at Hanwell Wine Estate on Thursday 18 June (1pm til 5pm).

This fab event is run by Nottingham-based charity, Base 51, and exists to give women in the East Midlands a space to learn, network, and build relationships. Proceeds from the event will be used to support the fab work Base 51 do with young people in Nottinghamshire.

There will be six not-to-be-missed speakers, including:

- Sarah Gash from Clever Duck Insurance
- Lydia and Paul Finch from LEF & Co Ltd
- Lisa Wood from Lisa.loves.style
- Lee-ann Cordingley, S*x Coach & Yoga Teacher
- Hasina Reshamwalla, Founder of VEDA Women's Club

- and Tamsin Liddle from Pyrrha Professional

There will also be a few stalls to peruse.

Photo shoots will cost from just £45 and 25% of your shoot fee will be donated to Base 51.

As the weather improves (yesterday being an exception) photo shoot enquiries increase.

I had three bookings last week for my most popular package, my Half-Day Brand Photography Experience.

Really looking forward to working with the following Nottingham-based businesses over the next month or so:

Structural Engineer, James Powers

Max and the Bright Beany Accounting team

Leckie and the team at Kin Lifetime Planning

I'll be designing and capturing 60 powerful and purposeful images for each of these fab local businesses.

That's 6-12 months of impactful visual content for their websites, socials and for use in print, including:

- headshots
- team photos
- behind the scenes
- and images for each of the stories they need to tell

I don't just rock up and shoot.

Every image is planned, and some will happen on the fly and by accident.

I'll be capturing the talent and personality behind each of these brands, and every image will be multi-purpose.

I've spent this morning working on James' shoot plan. It's never a quick job - it's about attention to detail and leaving no stone unturnded. Just waiting for a couple of lovely venues to confirm that we can shoot in their space, before sending it over to James for review.

A little personal project.

I'm back from a wonderful few days in Chania, Crete.

The sun was shining and the tzatziki was a twice-daily delight.

I didn't take my camera, but decided to set myself a little phone-photography project after seeing the toilet in our hotel room, as a face.

So here we have The Many Faces of Chania.
