Steve Liptrot Photography Nature Photographer, Tutor & Guide based in South Oxfordshire. I have always had an interest in photography from a very early age. It was my dad’s fault!

He bought me an Instamatic Kodak for a Christmas present which took twelve black and white grainy photos and since then I have been hooked! I offer 1-2-1 photography tuition courses at a location that is both within easy reach of me and the client. Wildlife photography is my first love but motorsport, landscape, transport and macro photography are subjects I can offer help in. I teach you ideal ca

Had a day out in deepest Gloucestershire today (Sunday) and visited the WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre.
It was a bit quiet on the bird front but the deer made up for a lack of bird images. The Autumn migration is under way. The Summer visitors are heading back south and hopefully at the end of September start of October, some of the birds that Winter in the UK should start arriving.

A few from a couple of hours spent walking round Farmoor reservoir and the River Thames in Oxfordshire.
During the Autumn migration, migrating birds fly south primarily to find more food and milder conditions when winter makes resources scarce in their breeding grounds. On their journey birds will rest up especially during bad weather. Farmoor reservoir near Oxford is a good place to spot these migrants such as wading birds, geese, gulls, terns and occasionally Osprey.
