Yes, I moved my workspace around again, and yes, it was necessary. Here’s why…

As creatives, from time to time it’s only natural for us to need to change our environment to something a bit more inspiring. For some people, that’s moving to the corner or a coffee shop for a few hours, some watch the sea. Myself, I do both of those, but when it comes to knuckling down and getting into editing the photos and videos for projects, sometimes going elsewhere isn’t possible.

For me, this is the new and improved editing suite.. for now!

Starting a YouTube channel, posting your photography, sharing your work… it can feel weirdly terrifying.

You start overthinking everything; how you look, how you sound, whether it’s good enough, whether anyone will even care.

Truth is, I almost talked myself out of posting again more times than I can count.

So this video is basically a reminder for anyone stuck in that same place: sometimes you just have to stop overthinking it and press publish.

I also left in some of the little stress tics I’d normally edit out… because honestly, nobody’s perfect on camera.

If you’ve ever hesitated to put your work out there, this one might resonate with you.

For a long time I stopped making photography videos.

Not because I stopped loving photography, but because I started questioning everything - the work, the direction, and whether I even had anything worth saying in the first place.

In this video I talk honestly about why I stepped away, what changed, and why I'm starting again.

This channel is going to be a mix of photography, creativity, studio conversations, and the reality of trying to live a creative life as a photographer.

If you've ever lost the spark for photography, you're definitely not alone.

And hopefully this channel helps you pick up the camera again.

The photo that started a love story with black and white. Finally hanging where it belongs.

7 years ago, it took “Witch’s Fingers”. My first venture into black and white photography, and the first photo I was truly excited about.

Today, it’s finally printed and hanging, pride of place in the studio, a reminder and inspiration of my love for monochromatic photography.

A limited run of signed prints will be available on the website in the coming days!

It’s been a few years since I popped down to Carew, a small village on the inland of Pembrokeshire, so long in fact that since I last saw the sun rise over it, drones weren’t commercially available yet. So with a new armoury of tools at my disposal, I braved the cold chill of a summer morning to capture blue hour through to the sunrise. This was my first photo of the day, a single star guiding me towards the formidable dusky walls of the castle.

A few months back, around Christmas time, I had the idea of doing a shoot with a picture frame with no glass, being within the picture, to then perhaps be framed again outside of it. The very next day, I walked into the local thrift store to find a frame, with no glass, just the right size for what I had in mind, for the handsome fee of £2. It had to be fate.

The project was on and off the burners as I travelled for jobs, but each time I stepped in the studio I sketched and wrote down what I would need, how I could do it, what would look best.

Over the months, I found new items which I just fell in love with; this old green velvet chair being one of them, bought from the same store, months later, this time for £20.

Armed with some fishing wire borrowed from a haberdashery, and with a bold red curtain I found again, in the same store, for £2, the set was ready. Nothing elaborate, and all for less than the cost of an SD Card.

This is my test shot. It’s the visualisation of a project that’s been circling my mind more than half a year.

It’s not perfect… but perfect is boring.

I’ve been working on my lighting in the studio recently and with a waxed jack and lantern at my disposal, I thought I’d try take a self portrait of a cinema-like dusky scene. I’m pretty happy with how it came out!

What should I shoot next?

It’s been a while since I’ve visited Tenby. It’s a beautiful location, which is why it’s Pembrokeshire’s most popular holiday destination. This time however, I had my drone with me, and I was eager to see it from another perspective. The sun wasn’t quite up when I launch off the winding walkway above the harbour, which meant the water was still dark and mysterious around the vibrant orange and white of the old lifeboat station. This is my favourite drone shot so far, and if anyone is in two minds about whether to get one, I absolutely recommend it.

There’ll be a limited run of 5 signed, framed 8”x10” prints for sale of this photo over the coming weeks, and the photo can be licensed on request for editorial and commercial use, so if you’d like to register an interest in purchasing a print or using the image, please send me a message. It’s a huge help to continue doing what I love, and to fulfil my goals for 2025.
