Yesterday was one of those moments that stays with you, I had the absolute joy of meeting Ricky Garton alongside some of the brilliant members of The Breakers. For anyone who knows the heartbeat of Perthshireâs music scene, Rickyâs name carries decades of rhythm and soul. From his early days with Teenbeats, through The Cyclones and Erle Blue Stars, his journey has been nothing short of iconic.
The Breakers are more than just a band, theyâre a living tribute to the golden age of rock and roll, made up of seasoned musicians whoâve played alongside legends and kept the spirit of live music alive across the decades. On drums, the ever-steady Kevin Smith brings a heartbeat that anchors every song. On guitar, Kenny Bisset adds rich, melodic layers that echo the best of classic rock and country. Alan Sutherland, on bass and keyboards, brings depth and texture that lifts every arrangement. Jim Harcus, with harmonica and accordion in hand, adds a soulful, rootsy flair that ties it all together. And on lead guitar, Jimmy Glenn, one of the best in the business, brings electrifying precision and passion that elevates every performance. His playing isnât just skilled, itâs storytelling in sound.
Together, they create something timeless.
And the story continues⌠Iâve been invited to join them at Perth Theatre and Concert Hall for their soundcheck day, camera in hand, heart wide open, to capture behind-the-scenes magic ahead of what promises to be a truly unforgettable concert. This wonât just be a gig.
Itâll be a musical connection, a celebration of history, talent, and community. If youâre thinking of coming, donât wait. Tickets will fly.
Just last week, they played a phenomenal set at The Tipsy Coo, raising over ÂŁ3000 for the childrenâs ward at Ninewells Hospital. That kind of generosity, paired with their talent, is exactly why theyâre so loved. And they werenât alone, four other fantastic acts took to the stage that night, each adding their own energy and heart to an evening that was all about giving back through music.
Iâll be sharing photos and stories soon, but for now, just feeling grateful to witness this living legacy in action.
