Let's talk about it.
As someone who loves the outdoors and is always camping on Dartmoor, I'm sick to death of seeing rubbish left behind and scattered along the moors.
Took the dog for a hike today to scout out new potential camping areas and came across the remains of someone's campsite.
Multiple firepits, gas canisters, cans, tent pegs, a whole tent, and tarp left there too.
Being able to enjoy nature is a privilege and especially on Dartmoor! The only national park in england that allows for legal wild camping and yet people still don't look after this luxury!
With the current legal ongoings regarding the future of wild camping on Dartmoor, this sort of thing doesn't help and only adds fuel to the political fire that people like us are desperately trying to fight.
Don't leave your junk around, especially with wild animals roaming the moors and all over the country that can easily come along and eat something they shouldn't or get trapped because you decided to leave rope or netting on the ground.
If I can manage to pick it all up with a single bin bag alongside walking the dog, I think it's pretty easy for you to carry it back while in a group.
Look after the environment, it's the only one we've got.
P.s I hope your firewood gets soaked now I've nicked your tarp 😘
Rant over, enjoy nature and have fun.
