Plymouth Sundial, situated right in the heart of the city centre on Armada Way, is one of Plymouth’s most recognizable modern landmarks. More than just a time-telling device, it serves as a monument to the city's rich naval history and functions as the definitive meeting spot for locals

The concept for the giant sundial was born out of a desire to commemorate one of the most defining moments in both Plymouth's and Britain's history, the defeat of the Spanish Armada.

The Plymouth Palace Theatre opened in 1898 as a music hall, with an accompanying Great Western Hotel, but was quickly damaged by a fire. After its 1899 reopening, it served as a variety theatre and later a bingo hall before closing as a theatre in the early 1980s. Converted into a nightclub called "The Academy" and then the "Dance Academy," its use ended in 2006 after a drug raid. The building, which is a Grade II* listed building, has been vacant since then and is on the Theatres at Risk Register

Smeaton's Tower

The memorial lighthouse in the hoe is actually the upper part of the (Douglass's Tower), originally situated 13.74 miles from Plymouth, on the Eddystone reef, constructed by the father of civil engineering (John Smeaton) to resemble the shape of an OAK tree.
