He did not want to take a single normal photo at the start of the shoot.
Every pose, funny face. Every direction, chaos. He had decided he was going to impress the photographer lady with his antics, and he was absolutely committed to the bit.

I won him over by working with the funny faces! And when he relaxed and let his mom pull him in for a kiss on the cheek, that smile happened. That completely unguarded, still a little boy smile.

Those are always the ones worth waiting for. 🤍

On Thursday I was at Xclusive Fitness Jeffreys Bay gym and halfway through my workout I see Jeffreys Bay light up the sky with a magnificent kaleidoscope of colours for sunrise...
I dropped my dumbbells and rushed to the beach. Sit like the sky celebrated being admired! What an absolute privilege to call this home. ❤️

I photographed these two sisters a while back, both carrying their babies at the same time. A double blessing for one family.
One of those babies has since arrived earthside. 🤍

I don't know if they fully understood what they were giving me that day. The chance to stand between two women on the edge of becoming mothers, watching them laugh together about what was coming. That's not a photoshoot. That's a privilege.

The cold front came in last week and took my sessions with it...
So I did what I always do when the beach calls and there's nobody to photograph. I went anyway.
The rocks were slippery, the wind was sharp, and the ocean was doing that thing where it throws itself against everything with absolutely zero apology. I stood there just watching the water move.
Some mornings, the beach is the session.

There is something about a handshake between a father and his son that gets me every time. It's respect. It's pride. It's two people who love each other finding a language that doesn't need words.
