Speed, power and a little flash of rusty red… 🦅📸
Another bird I had the opportunity to photograph during my day at the Hawk Conservancy Trust near Andover — the beautiful Lanner Falcon.
One of the things that really caught my eye was that distinctive rusty-coloured head, but getting the chance to photograph this bird in flight was something else entirely.
Lanner Falcons are incredibly fast and agile flyers, native to parts of Africa, southern Europe and southwest Asia. Like other falcons, their streamlined bodies and pointed wings are perfectly built for speed.
For me, this was another chance to work on one of the hardest parts of wildlife photography — tracking a fast-moving bird through the viewfinder and getting that focus exactly where you want it. 📸
Really pleased with how these turned out, especially being able to capture the wings and tail completely spread out in flight. ❤️🦅
