A brand new exhibition: Emma Warley: Photographs from Scarborough Pride 2025 is on at the Glass Box Gallery, St Helen’s Square, Scarborough

9 to 13 SEP 2026

That’s the thing about parades, there’s no time to compose or wait for the right moment, you react to what’s in front of you and move on. Most of what’s in the show comes from those few seconds, a glance, a gesture, someone caught mid-laugh before they’re past you.

Scarborough Pride is small by comparison to most, but that’s part of what makes it worth photographing. A lot of familiar faces, people I half know from around town, out and dressed up for the day. Children on shoulders, a dog in rainbow gear, the drag performers working the crowd as they pass. The flat coastal light does the rest.

There was no plan beyond turning up with a camera and seeing what the day gave me. This is my second solo show, after It’s a Nice Day for It at the Shakespeare Gallery earlier this year, and it’s on with the support of Scarborough Pride who run the parade and a load of other stuff for the LGBTQ+ community along the coast the rest of the year too.

10am–4pm daily, closed Thursday and Saturday. Free entry. I’ll be there in person on the 9th, 11th and 13th.

Thanks to the people at Scarborough Pride you’re getting a second exhibition of my photographs in 2026. 🥳

This time you can see some of the shots from last year’s Pride parade in Scarborough.

I’ll be in the Glass Box Gallery on the Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. I’ve a wedding on the Thursday and I’m shooting Scarborough Pride on the Saturday. 🥴

It’s the Coble Market again on the Sunday so it should be a pretty awesome week.

Took Mum to the Stitching Fair at the Spa today. Got some treasure and then caught a minute of the Scarborough Spa Orchestra. 😍

Now I’ve got a sunshine and ice cream headache and am sitting in front of my fan with an iced water. 🧊
