**Official Announcement**

As you have likely seen, I am working on a very special project and I am too excited to wait to for my original announcement date, so you're getting it early!

I am currently working on a photobook (mostly photos but some words haha) on the metal and rock scene up in Shetland with my photography and I will be publishing it either through a publisher or through self publishing! It will take me some time to complete and publish but I am announcing it now so you know what I'm working on it in the background. I genuinely think this could be huge for the this music community and I hope it brings joy to people, seeing themselves represented and having a blast in print.

I will need help though, from you! I am officially looking for Rock and Metal bands of Shetland to photograph live and off stage during shoots with the bands! I am also looking for Shetland based metalheads, rockers, fans and gig goers to photograph either at the gig moshing or out and about at say your favourite bar or place to walk. You could meet up on your own or in a group if you wanted also.

*18+ preferably please, anyone under 18 will need to have their parents or legal guardians sign a model release form which will give them permission to join the project.*

I have a lot of passion and love for what I do as a gig photographer and I would very much like to give back to this community that has welcomed me with open arms in to photograph your gigs! I greatly appreciate you all and all of your feedback on my work!

I'm officially looking for Shetland based metalheads, rockers and gig goers for a very special project I'm working on. I'll be taking photos at gigs as always getting more photos for my project BUT what I want from you, the fans and gig goers! Is to meet up either on your own or as a group and photograph you outside of the gig environment, maybe outside/inside your favourite bar or favourite place to go for a walk etc.. You can dress as you like and we can go anywhere to take the photos but I don't drive so it'll have to be within reason for the buses or I may need a lift to go further a field.

Also, any portraits I take of you or your friend group for my project, you will receive a copy of them for free to do whatever you like with! Maybe a new profile pic or something to start a modelling portfolio if that interests you. They don't need to be fancy or studio level shots but they will be a small series of portraits of yourself out and about. 18+ only please.

If you have any interest or curiosity about the project then please feel free to get in touch and I will happily tell you what it is and where I am going with it. Like I have said before, it could be huge for this music community and I think you'll love it! I am not announcing the end game for this project just yet as I want to build up photos for it so I can share them with the official announcement and have a good starting point on the project. I already have a good starting point on the gig photos but what I need now is YOU!

Hello all,

So I thought it important to talk to you about my style, my experience and education in photography so you know what you're getting when you hire me. Though I might be new to your local gig scene or community, I have a lot of experience and education to back that I know what I'm doing but let's talk about it for those that don't know 😊

I have been doing photography since at least 2013 that's when I started college at Wirral met and began my photography journey in more depth than just taking snap shots. I have been shooting gigs since 2017, my first official gig was a 3 day local music festival called pentrefest (2017) which was fun and a great first time for me. I believe by this point I had started university, in which I studied photography as well and very proudly graduated in 2019 with a 2:1 degree in photography from the university of Chester.

So as well as nearly a decade of experience in gig photography, I have a degree in photography along with diplomas in art and design too. I have worked hard in my education and on my experience as a gig photographer to be where I am today.

Now to talk about me and my style of photography. I have been shooting gigs for so long, big bands like sleep token and bowling for soup for magazines along with a lot of local bands with different communities and scenes, so many bands and experiences that I have developed my own style and that might not be for everyone. I have the equipment to photograph from anywhere I'd like in the venue, however I like to get up close with the bands with my trusty canon 20mm lens so I can turn with ease to photograph the crowd without the need to change over lenses and miss out on a mosh pit or the chance to photograph the crowd in the moment.

I feel like I truly capture the environment and the atmosphere of the gig by being down in the pit with everyone dancing about and I get good shots of the bands too. I use my external flashgun so I can fill the light of my subject but try and keep the stage light in with the final image. Sometimes if there's no or little stage lighting then you'll only get my flash lighting the subject but that's dependent on the venue but will not take away from the awesome shot. I also use it so I can capture the chaos of the pit and the people of the gig.

The bands; my clientele are specific to my style of work. I love to photograph metal and rock bands because that is my style of music but I am open to other genres too BUT you've got to understand that if a band or promoter wants me to photograph a gig then I will be there to photograph the gig and shoot it to the best of my ability in my style of photography. And if that means getting in your way for a brief second to take a shot then I will respectfully do so to get the shot that I want and need. The bands that want me there like my work, they want me and my style. Look who's photo made it in the local paper! I've had my work published in magazines and online but never the paper so this is a proud first for me!

This was my photo entered into the Highland challenge competition this year, I came third in the black and white category. I came first last year, so I guess I'm good at black and white photography 😊

But how cool is this! 😊💜

*Announcement*

So in 2019, I created and self published a photo book on the metal community for a university final project. It involved photos I had taken of bands, crowds and modelling photos of people from the metal scene. I met a lot of really nice people doing this and it was a lot of fun creating this book.

6 years later, I have now taken thousands of newer and better photos of metal/rock bands, the crowds and the mosh pits. All I need is to take more photos of people from the music scene out and about or in a studio.

Which leads me to my decision, I have decided to create and self publish a new and better photo book on the metal music scene. This may take a while, maybe years but it's something I'm excited to start working on in the background! If you want to get involved in any way then get in touch and maybe you'll get to be in it! 👀

If and when I am ready, I will put out an official casting call to any metalheads or bands who may want to feature in the book, you will get to keep the photos I take of you as part of this collaboration!
