The strongest shoots happen when the person in front of the camera trusts the idea and adapts without hesitation.

For Wild by Nature, the woodland stopped being a backdrop and became part of the mood. Leaves, branches and foreground blur were used deliberatelyβ€”partly concealing, partly revealing, and making each frame feel observed rather than arranged.

The stage, the light, the smoke and the musicians at the heart of it all. There was so much character in this show, both in the performance and the world created around it.

A brilliant night of live music, and one I thoroughly enjoyed capturing.

Incredible musicianship, brilliant songwriting and so much character on stage. There is something special about watching four musicians completely locked into what they are doing, each bringing their own personality to the performance.

With the smoke, dramatic lighting and theatrical stage surrounding it all, The Dead South put on one hell of a show at Portsmouth Guildhall.

Not every photograph needs to begin with a complicated plan.

Lost in Music came from recognising a feeling in the moment: quiet, inward-looking and completely absorbed. The woodland gave us the stillness; the headphones gave the story its shape.

This small two-frame collection is about trusting instinct rather than controlling every part of the scene.
