Some days remind you why you started a project in the first place.
Today I had the pleasure of attending the Richmond Nature Forum organised by Habitats & Heritage at the beautiful York House, where volunteers, conservation groups, professionals and nature enthusiasts came together to share ideas, experiences and projects dedicated to protecting local wildlife and green spaces.
It was incredibly rewarding to share a few excerpts from the interviews I have been recording and to see people stopping to look at the photographs, watch the videos and engage with the stories I have been collecting. Moments like these make all the hard work behind the project Green London: Nature & Parks worthwhile.
After many years living in London, being welcomed into these forums and community gatherings is something truly special. It gives me a strong sense of belonging and makes me feel even more connected to this city.
What started as a project to document the nature and parks of London has gradually become something much bigger. Along the way, I realised that I am not only telling the stories of green spaces, but also the stories of the people who care for them—the volunteers, local groups and dedicated individuals who help protect biodiversity and build stronger communities.
Every meeting adds a new chapter to this journey and reminds me that behind every park there are people whose stories deserve to be told.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to stop, chat and show interest in the project today. 🌿📷💚
