I hate that I have to say this, but screenshotting images and asking AI to remove the watermarks is THEFT.
It’s hard work being an event photographer, I don’t know of any other job where you work long hours not knowing if you’ll even get paid.
I sat at the ESS club show for almost 7 hours yesterday, and then had several hours of uploading, sorting, and editing.
Only for someone to screenshot the images and feed them through AI, and then lie to me and say they’d paid and sent me a fake order confirmation email (straight out of ChatGPT, with all the wrong details, incorrect image pricing, galley names etc).
They said they’d been scammed but when I asked for proof of where they had been emailed these photos from, the email address, or order number, to stop it happening to anybody else, nothing was given.
This isn’t okay, it is theft. This is how I pay my bills and feed my own dogs. Only after I called them out did they pay; again, that’s not okay.
