Resting in the quiet shallows of Loch Linnhe, the Old Boat of Caol sits quietly beneath the colossal weight of Ben Nevis ⛰️.

There is something haunting and deeply grounding about this place.Weathered timbers, flaking paint band rusting iron slowly yielding to the Highland waters, all framed against the immense, brooding North Wall.

Moments like this are a humbling reminder of scale, time and raw beauty. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🛥️

I almost didn't go. As I sat on the sofa, tired and deliberating back and forth whether I really had the energy to make the climb.
In. the end the camera called louder than the comfort of the sofa.

After the steep, scenic pull up to the edge I reached the Salt Cellar just as the low evening light began to wash across the blooming heather. Standing along the ridge alongside a line of other photographers - all of us quiet, focused and determined - something inside me shifted.

Landscape photography can often feel like a predominately male space, and for a long time, self doubt would tell me that I didn't measure up. But standing on that gritstone edge, at one with my camera and tripod, watching the that golden glow side light catch the ancient rock, I didn't feel like an outsider, I felt honoured to be there, and for the first time ever. I knew without hesitation I had earned my place beside them.

I was just ever so slightly in awe of myself for showing up.

It’s taken me nearly two full weeks of staring at my camera sitting on the desk to finally plug in the card reader and offload these shots. Life caught up the second I unpacked my bags, and I’ve been quietly kicking myself every day since for not making the time sooner.

Now that I’m finally sitting down and scrolling through the raw files, the wait was worth it—and I’m immediately right back there

Ten days solo through the Scottish Highlands. Ten days of just me, my camera, winding single-track roads, and absolute, humbling silence.

Going into this trip, my personal mission was to try and channel an Ansel Adams ethos—that monumental sense of scale, deep contrast, patient composition, and the drama of light carving through ancient rock—and translate that spirit into a modern digital frame.

Looking through these images tonight, I’m genuinely astonished at how much I’ve grown. When you’re out there completely on your own, there’s nothing to distract you and no one else’s pace to follow.
You have to trust your eye, wait out the shifting clouds, and really learn to see the landscape instead of just snapping a photo of it.

More to come as I work my way through the rest of the memory card, but for tonight, I'm just deeply grateful for the miles walked and the perspective gained.

This was a total accident, a split-second decision to take a snap as I was packing up. My instant reaction was: "The light is wrong, the framing is off, and the rule of thirds is totally out of whack."

It felt like a complete write-off, a throwaway shot, and I almost deleted it and forgot it ever existed. But when I found it again recently and spent some time in post-production, my perspective changed.

Instead of fighting the harsh backlight and deep shadow, I embraced it. What I once saw as flaws became the shot’s unique strength. The deep shadow creates a perfect silhouette that emphasizes the bird's form, while the translucent green leaves form a natural, intimate frame—a true vignette of nature. I realized it wasn't about following arbitrary rules, but about capturing an atmospheric moment.

The lesson for me?

Sometimes, those 'off' shots just need a new eye and a little work to find their true composition.

It's time to embrace imperfections!

It is full of grain, shadow, and heavy weather. It’s rarely smooth or easy.

You can focus on the peeling paint and the crumbling foundation, or you can focus on the incredible fact that it refuses to collapse.

There is a quiet shift happening in my creative world… ☁️✨

​Lately, I’ve found myself looking up. I have fallen completely in love with a new artistic direction—a deep, passionate focus on the gentle tones, quiet whispers, and ethereal softness of clouds.

This shift has inspired a brand-new fine art collection that I am so incredibly excited to finally share a sneak peek of today.

​These two images are deeply personal to me. They represent my exploration of what legendary photographer Ansel Adams championed: the concept of "emotional weather." The belief that the sky, the mist, and the light are not just atmospheric conditions, but direct mirrors of our inner emotional landscapes.

​The First Image (Top): That sudden, warm golden light breaking through heavy, soft mist over the hills. To me, this is a visual representation of hope and quiet clarity amidst a heavy heart.

✨ I’m still here... lurking in the background. ✨

If you’ve noticed a bit of radio silence on my page lately, you aren’t imagining things. Life commitments have required my full attention elsewhere for a while, keeping me away from my business socials. But behind the scenes the creative spark never went out. I’ve been quietly observing, planning, and waiting.

Finding the Light 🕯️ 💡

Photography, much like life, is a masterclass in patience.
Take a look at the attached photo. To me, this shot captures that exact philosophy. You can stand in the cold, dense shadows for what feels like an eternity, wondering if the shot will ever come together. But if you hold your ground and stay patient, the clouds part, the shadows recede, and the light hits just right. Suddenly, the ordinary becomes extraordinary.

Leaning Into a New Vision

This period of stepping back has given me the space to think about where I want to go next. I've realized that my heart is calling me in a very specific direction. Moving forward, I am diving deeper into fine art landscape and wildlife photography.

There is something incredibly profound about capturing the raw, quiet, and untamed elements of the world. It’s an area I feel deeply compelled to lean into, creating pieces that don't just show a scene, but tell a story and evoke an emotion.

The Next Chapter: An Epic Adventure 🚐🌍

All of this reflection is leading up to the biggest leap of faith I’ve ever taken.

This time next year, everything changes. ⚡ 🌩️

I am currently preparing for a massive life pivot. I’ll be shedding the weight of my material belongings, packing up my life, and heading out on an epic van life adventure across the UK and Europe.

No clutter, no corporate noise—just me, the hubby, and the doggies, a van, the open road, and my camera. I want to live among the landscapes I capture and truly immerse myself in the wildlife I seek out.

Thank you to everyone who has stuck around while I've been quiet. The shadows have been necessary, but the light is coming—and I can't wait to take you all on this journey with me.
