Excited to be part of the Open Studios Ayrshire exhibition which begins this Saturday at The Barony Centre, West Kilbride.

I am hoping to be there from 2-4pm on Saturday along with some of the other exhibiting artists. The exhibition is a fantastic taster for the main Open Studios Ayrshire event which will be taking place in September.

My garden is coming to life, it's currently a riot of colour and providing lots of inspiration for new ideas and techniques.

I've been working on 5 floral collages using gelli-plate prints and mixed media. Old books that belonged to my gran form the background base, I like the idea of that family connection in my art.

Here are the first 2 - loosely based on poppies and clematis. The originals are being deliverer to The Barony Centre, West Kilbride, for the forthcoming Open Studios Artists exhibition which will run from 6-27th June.

The others will be part of the Troon Art Club summer exhibition 27th June-11th July. Look out for a future post. . .

I'm currently getting prints and cards of these design (and other new work) made for the Handmade in Ayr Summer Solstice Evening Market at The Burns Museum on Saturday 20th June.

Oh and I'm not completely abandoning cyanotypes, just adding a bit more colour to my life for a while!

Such a fun day gelliplate printing with plants, stamps and stencils then much cutting and collaging to make a concertina booklet. Great fun!

I’ve been pretty quiet on social media recently as I’m taking some time out from craft markets to explore new media and techniques.

I'm at the Scottish Maritime Museum Winter Market tomorrow night from 4-9pm. It's my last market of the festive season and for the foreseeable future as I'm taking some time out to explore new artistic directions.
