Shoutout to NorthernPixl for helping me capture my first ever Milky Way shot… 🌌

The Milky Way is a barred spiral galaxy, around 13.6 billion years old, with vast, sweeping arms stretching across the cosmos.

And what better place to capture it than Wolfcleugh…

An abandoned settlement, left behind in the 1960s, hidden away on a remote stretch of Rookhope Burn.

A pretty special place to stand beneath the stars. ✨

Enjoy, guys 🙌🏻

Over the hills and far away, a beautiful Short-eared Owl soars high above the North Pennines, searching the windswept landscape for its next meal… 🦉

A recent trip into the North Pennines gave me the opportunity to spend some time with these incredible birds, and I came away with some truly stunning shots.

Watching them hunt and glide effortlessly through the air was mesmerising. They can be incredibly shy when it comes to having their photos taken, but with a little patience, I managed to capture some great moments.

I absolutely love that windswept look — it really captures the wild beauty of these birds and their environment. 🌿

⚠️ Gore warning! Nature doing its thing ⚠️

Over the hills and far away, raptors soar high in search of their next prey…

I recently spotted a Kestrel in the North Pennines enjoying its lunch while hovering effortlessly and riding the thermals.

A little gory, but an incredibly cool experience to witness and capture at the same time! 🦅📸 🐭

I thought I’d shared this the other day…

The live TrailCam is back up and running in the Northern Pennines.

I set it up, left the location and within the hour I captured this young Roe. Hopefully more wildlife to come soon 😍

The old farmhouse stood quietly on the edge of former mining land, weathered and forgotten, surrounded by a landscape shaped by its industrial past. As the evening sun began to sink, I spotted a pale shape on the roof.

A barn owl, perched on a post with its kill.

I watched quietly as it rested in the fading light, before eventually disappearing into the old farmhouse. Somewhere inside one of the chimney stacks, hidden deep in the darkness, its young were waiting.

I was lucky enough to capture the owl as it later emerged back onto the roof, having fed its young, its pale feathers glowing in the last light of the day.

Since then, I’ve heard the faint calls of the owlets from inside the chimney, although I’m yet to see them. I’m hoping that, as they grow stronger and begin to venture out, I might be lucky enough to witness their first appearances.

For a building that has stood empty and forgotten for so long, the old farmhouse suddenly feels very much alive.
