Scotland is looking beautiful in all its shades of green right now, but soon the landscapes will start transforming into warm shades of yellow, orange and red.

If you’re planning an autumn adventure in Scotland, here are a few places worth adding to your list:

1. Craigievar Castle / Aberdeenshire
2. Plodda Falls / Highlands
3. Garry Bridge / Perthshire
4. The Hermitage / Perthshire
5. Touchstone Maze / Highlands
6. Uath Lochans / Cairngorms

Which one would you visit first? 👇

A little haven on Loch Fyne

After sharing our dining experience, it’s time to show you where we stayed.

We spent two nights in one of Inver Restaurant & Rooms beautiful eco bothies, tucked away on the shores of Loch Fyne. It was such a peaceful and cosy space, with huge windows looking out towards Castle Lachlan and the surrounding landscape.

We loved all the little details that made the bothy feel so special. Beautifully designed interiors, an incredibly comfortable bed and the most peaceful feeling of being surrounded by the landscape.

And one of our favourite parts of the mornings was having breakfast delivered in a basket to our door, then sitting at the table with that view while slowly making our way through all the homemade and local goodies.

It was the perfect place to slow down, switch off and enjoy a couple of very special days in Argyll. We had such an amazing stay and would happily go back.

Thank you again to Pam, Rob and the whole team at Inver for having us and making us feel so welcome.

The Art of Scale

This is a collection of shots from Scotland, New Zealand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Tenerife, all showing off the power of scale in photography.

Sometimes, the best way to show the size of a landscape is to make the subject small.

Place a person, boat, or another familiar object within the frame to create a sense of scale. Let the vast landscape dominate the image, while the small subject gives the viewer a reference point, revealing just how immense the scene really is.

Have we accidentally found Thing from Addams Family at McCook’s Bothy? Swipe to the end to find out 👀

Hidden beneath Ben Alder on the shores of Loch Ericht, McCook’s Bothy sits deep in the wilderness of Ben Alder Estate almost 20 km from Dalwhinnie and miles away from civilisation. Surrounded by mountains, open moorland and the loch, it’s hard to imagine a more remote place to spend an evening.

The bothy has a long-standing reputation for being haunted. According to the old legend, Joseph McCook, the stalker who once lived here, hanged himself at the cottage. The story was later proven to be untrue, as McCook actually lived to 85 and died peacefully in Newtonmore. But the legend stuck, along with stories of strange footsteps, unexplained noises and things moving on their own.

For us, it was a much more enjoyable kind of evening. We gathered around the fireplace, sipped wh**ky, played games, told stories and had plenty of laughs with great company.

No phone signal, no traffic, no one around for miles. Just a fire, good people and the incredible Highland wilderness outside.

And if you fancy experiencing it for yourself, the part of McCook’s Bothy we stayed in is available to book through Ben Alder Estate. It needs to be booked in advance and is a minimum two-night stay.

Scotland in rain is unreal! 🤯

The rain transforms Scotland into another world. Misty mountains, endless waterfalls and mood that feels straight out of a film.

And Glen Coe? Somehow it looks even better like this.
