A new series of images I've been making recently using a macro lens - taking extreme close-up shots of sunflowers. Facebook compression of images is bad so click through to my website to see higher quality versions (link below).

"Helianthus, is rooted in two Greek words — “helios” meaning sun and “anthos” meaning flower.

The ancient Greek myth of Apollo and Clytie is one explanation of why sunflowers turn towards the sun. In this story Clytie, a nymph, adored Apollo. At first, he loved her back, but soon he fell in love with Leucothoe. Because of her jealousy, Clytie told Leucothoe’s father of the relationship and he punished her by burying her alive.

In anger, Apollo turned her into a flower, but even in flower form she still loved him and would spend her days watching him as he moved the sun across the sky in his chariot, just like sunflowers move to face the sun."

An experiment with in-camera digital image overlay (double exposure), shot during a walk through the City of London. A further exploration into feelings of anxiety and discombobulation with the built environment of overbearing architecture.

Welcome to my visual art page! I’m a Brighton-based photographic artist who uses various techniques and processes to manipulate shape and form, investigating the different experiences this can represent - from anxiety in concrete environments, to dream-like fantasies of the psyche. Thank you for liking my page.. if there’s any work you particularly like please help me reach out to others by liking, commenting and sharing my posts. Thank you and enjoy!

I'm having a few issues with image uploads at the moment, proper service will resume lickety-split. In the meantime here's an image from a period of time when I became obsessive over geometry and made some still life images using patterns referred to as 'sacred geometry'.
