There is a point in Purbeck where the valley sides and the sea conspire to form a perfect notch in the landscape. I was lucky enough to be there tonight when this coincided with the nearly setting sun.

Very early start this morning took me down the Strath between Ben Loyal and loch Loyal heading towards and ultimately . I saw 2 other cars, one owl and a deer in my first hour of driving. Amazing scenery and almost completely uninhabited. Lairg was a culture shock 🤣 This is probably a hunting lodge with the dragons back of Ben Loyal in the background.

This is the last signs of a community from which 129 (I think) people emigrated from The Cairngorms to set up a new life...

This is the last signs of a community from which 129 (I think) people emigrated from The Cairngorms to set up a new life alongside Lake Ontario in Canada. This was a common story in the highlands for many different reasons, most of which I don’t know anything about! It is a beautiful place but a very harsh life. .

This is in the Moine House on the Moine peninsula on the far north coast of .. along the and near the village of Tongue. The house is an old surveyors cottage, now derelict,but with some impressive art. Sadly there are a lot of derelict houses in the Far North.
