Not every beautiful photograph needs a smile.

Yesterday’s little miss made me work hard for them 😂 Teething, feeling a little stubborn and absolutely not interested in performing for the camera… and honestly? I wouldn’t change a thing.

Because those serious little faces. The chunky cheeks. The stubborn pout. Those ridiculously long eyelashes. 🥹

They’re just as much a part of this stage as the big gummy smiles are.

And yes… eventually, after enough ridiculous noises, silly faces and me making a complete fool of myself behind the camera, we cracked her 😂 We got those gorgeous smiles too.

But some of my favourites from the whole session are actually the quieter ones. The little expressions that are completely her, exactly as she is right now.

It was such a lovely morning having this family in the studio, and an absolute privilege getting to capture this little chapter for them.

I already can’t wait to have them back again. 🤎

Oh my god, I can’t believe I caught this moment. 😭🤍

I shared a little behind-the-scenes from Leon’s first birthday session earlier today, and I KNEW there was a split second where he looked up at Grandma like this… but seeing the actual photograph has absolutely pulled at my heartstrings.

I mean… LOOK AT THEM. 🥹

Today was just lovely. Leon came along with Mum, Dad, Grandma, Auntie and Uncle, and this little boy was completely surrounded by people who absolutely adore him.

And yes, if you’d been looking in from the outside, at times you probably would have thought it was a little bit hectic 😂

But this is exactly why I love photographing families this way.

Amongst all of the chaos are these tiny, split-second moments.

The way he looked at Grandma.
The cuddles with Mum.
The interactions with Dad.
The little moments with his auntie and uncle that nobody planned or posed.

And we caught so many of them.

Photographs that might just look like beautiful photographs to somebody else, but to this family? They’re their people. Their relationships. Their little boy at one, surrounded by everyone who loves him.

What an incredibly special milestone to have everyone there for. 🤍

I genuinely had SO much fun with you all today, and I already cannot wait to deliver this gallery.

Also… Grandma and Leon might have just stolen the show with this one. 😭🥹

Some people just get it when you say, “I’ve got an idea…” 😂🤍

And Lian is absolutely one of those people.

Honestly, whenever I have a vision — whether it’s something new, something a little different, or something that sounds slightly crazy when I first explain it — I know I can call this girl and she’ll be completely up for it. 😂

But this morning wasn’t about anything crazy.

It was just… dreamy.

Nearly three years ago, Lian stood in front of my camera with tiny Ollie growing inside her belly. And this morning, we got to recreate some of those photographs — only this time, Ollie was right there beside her.

No longer the baby we were waiting to meet…

But a little boy about to become a big brother to his baby sister. 🥹🎀

There’s something so special about photographing a family at two completely different points in their lives and getting to see just how much has changed in between.

The same couple.
The same little boy I photographed before I’d even met him.
A whole lot of memories made in between.

And now, another tiny person waiting to join them. 🤍

Today was so much fun, so relaxed, and honestly just one of those sessions that reminds me how lucky I am to have families who come back and trust me with these moments again and again.

Lian, thank you for always being up for my ideas. 😂🤍

Now we just need baby girl to hurry up because I think it’s safe to say… we’re all VERY excited to meet her. 🎀🥹

Three years ago, I photographed Cian as a tiny newborn… and today, I got to welcome this beautiful family back into the studio. 🤍

And this time? Cian had opinions. 😂

If you’d been watching today’s session from the outside, you might have seen a three-year-old running around the studio, telling us “no”, deciding exactly what he was (and absolutely was NOT) going to do, and generally making sure we all knew that he was in charge.

Basically… a perfectly normal three-year-old. 🤍

But amongst what might have felt like chaos to Mum and Dad, I was watching something completely different.

I was watching the way Siobhan looked at her little boy.

The way James made him laugh.

The cuddles that happened for just a few seconds before he wriggled away again.

The tiny glances, the laughter, the connection… all of those little moments that are so easy to miss when you’re right in the middle of them.

And somehow, amongst all of that beautiful chaos, we created this. 🥹

One of my favourite images from today.

Because family photographs don’t need perfectly behaved children.

They don’t need everyone sitting still, looking at the camera and smiling on command.

They just need you to be you.

And I have a feeling Siobhan & James are going to be very surprised when they see just how much beauty we captured today. 🤍

Welcome back, Cian. Last time you were here, you were the baby. This time, you’re getting ready to become a big brother… and I think it suits you already. 🥹

Trust me when I say, you don’t want to miss that quiet moment before your family changes again. 🤍

That little in-between chapter where your toddler is still your baby… but not for much longer.

Before there’s another tiny hand to hold. Another little person to love. And suddenly, your family looks completely different.

That’s what I love about maternity sessions like this.

Especially with toddlers, nothing needs to be forced or overly posed.

We walk. We explore. We play. We cuddle.

I let your toddler be exactly who they are, and somewhere amongst all that playing, we capture the belly cuddles, the tiny hands, the laughter and the way your family feels right now.

And I think Dad was probably the most grateful for the relaxed approach… because we all know how dads can be when there’s a camera around. 😂

No awkward posing. No pressure to perform. Just time together while I quietly capture it.

I’m pretty sure everyone enjoyed yesterday’s maternity session… even Dad. 😂

But in all seriousness, this one was a little bit special.

I’ve been photographing this gorgeous family since Oliver was born, and over the last two years I’ve had the privilege of capturing every milestone along the way. Watching families come back year after year is something I’ll never stop being grateful for.

So photographing them one last time as a family of three felt a little bittersweet.

How is this cheeky little boy, who I’ve watched grow from a tiny newborn into a whirlwind of personality, about to become a big brother?! My heart genuinely can’t cope. 🥹

And this is exactly why I love family sessions. They’re not about standing still and saying “cheese”. They’re about letting little ones be little. Running around, giggling, pulling funny faces (Oliver absolutely understood the assignment 😂), cuddling Mum and Dad, and creating memories that actually feel like your family.

I’m so unbelievably excited for this next chapter and I already know baby girl is going to be adored.

I honestly can’t wait to meet her. 🤍
