It was a real rollercoaster ride on Saturday 5th September at New Lodge, home of Billericay Town FC.
'Ricay went 2 up within 39 minutes - Bonne and Long hitting the back of the net. The Wanderers struck back on 43 and 45 minutes through Dawid Rogalski! 2 - 2 at the break.
On 71 minutes, Jack wood put the away side in front with a worldy, curling a left foot shot from just inside the penalty area into the 'keeper's top right corner. You could have understood how that would have seemed to be the winner.
Up pops Frankie Merriefield, to score an equaliser for the team in blue and white. He had only been on the pitch for 3 minutes! 3 - 3.
Off the pitch, I was pleased to meet a Billericay Town legend, Doug Young, who scored a hat-trick at Wembley in 1979 in the Fa Vase Final, when they beat Almondsbury Greenway 4 - 1. Doug was the only player to score a hat-trick in an FA Vase final at the old Wembley Stadium!
