A few years ago, Eye In The Sky was just me, a drone, and a determination to help bring lost dogs home.

I never imagined it would grow into what it is today.

What started as a one person operation has become a team of around 25 incredible volunteers, all giving up their own time to help families through what is often one of the worst days of their lives.

We primarily cover Dorset, but we’ve also travelled much further afield, including Cornwall and London, while supporting lost dog cases online right across the UK.

Over the years we’ve continued to invest in the equipment and training needed to give missing dogs the best possible chance. Alongside our thermal drones, we now use trail cameras, handheld thermal cameras, snake cameras, listening devices and even underwater drones when circumstances require it.

We’ve searched in forests, towns, farmland, rivers, marshes, cliffs and countless other locations, in every type of weather imaginable.

Along the way we’ve built an amazing community. Thousands of people now follow our journey across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, with supporters watching from around the world. This year we were honoured to present two days of lost dog advice at Goodwoof, and we’re incredibly proud to have already been invited back next year.

Everything we’ve achieved has happened in just a few short years.

But as we continue to grow, so do the costs.

Despite the specialist equipment, fuel, maintenance, training and ongoing expenses, we have never charged owners for our searches or for the time our volunteers give so selflessly.

That’s something we’re incredibly proud of.

We’re now looking for businesses that would like to become partners and be part of this journey. Although we specialise in searching for lost dogs, we’re always happy to help where we can.

Today we were contacted about a cat that had disappeared into what was believed to be a badger sett. The cat had been inside since at least the morning and was wearing a tracker, which showed it close to one of the sett entrances, but it simply wasn’t coming back out.

Badger setts are protected by law, so there is very little that can legally be done if an animal enters one. We attended, checked from the entrance as far as we safely could without disturbing the sett, and offered the owner advice on the best course of action.

We agreed that the best option was to set up a camera overnight to monitor the entrance in case the cat emerged under the cover of darkness, when it would likely be quieter.

But just as the owner returned to set up the camera, his cat suddenly appeared.

A brilliant ending to the day, and we’re delighted to see the cat safely back home where it belongs.

THANK YOU. WE'RE NEARLY THERE.

We just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we're now nearly at our target.

This thermal drone is one of the most important pieces of equipment we have. It allows us to search large areas quickly, and areas that aren't accessible to people to give missing dogs the best possible chance of making it home.

As we head into what is normally one of our busiest periods of the year, we need this drone back in the sky more than ever.

Every search could be the one that reunites a devastated family with their beloved dog.

There are moments in life you never forget.

One of mine happened when I was much younger and very nearly cost two dogs their lives.

I was walking them near the coast. I knew there were cliffs in the area, but I believed they were much further away.

The dogs were off their leads, happily running around and playing together before disappearing through a bush.

I carried on walking, calling them.

Nothing.

When I reached the bush and looked through it, my heart sank.

Immediately on the other side was a cliff edge.

I looked down and saw one of the dogs desperately clinging on. Somehow I managed to reach down, grab his collar and pull him back up.

But my other dog was nowhere to be seen.

I left the first dog with my partner and ran down the nearest coastal path before scrambling across the bottom of the cliff to where I thought he'd fallen.

Then I saw him.

He was alive.

He'd badly injured his leg and was struggling to walk, but he was alive.

I picked him up, carried him back to the beach, where the beach wardens gave us a lift back to the car, and we drove straight to the vets.

Both dogs survived.

But the outcome could so easily have been very different.

As we move into the holiday season, I often think back to that day.

Thousands of people will head away with their dogs over the coming weeks, exploring beaches, forests, countryside and walking routes they've never visited before.

Unfortunately, this is also the time of year when we see a significant increase in dogs going missing or suffering serious accidents.

Hidden cliffs, steep drops, railway lines, rivers, quarries, fast roads and other hazards often appear without warning.

By the time you realise they're there, it's sometimes already too late.

After years of searching for missing dogs through Eye In The Sky, I've seen just how often these incidents happen.

That's why I created Dog Walker Danger Map.

It's designed to help owners spot hidden hazards before they become emergencies.

The app shows where hazards are located, how far away they are from you, and even allows you to check a walk before you leave your accommodation.

It's the app I wish had existed on the day those two dogs ran through that bush.

I genuinely believe this app will save dogs' lives.

WE’RE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS

Every missing dog is someone’s family.

When a dog disappears, time matters. Behind every search is an owner desperately hoping for that one phone call to say their best friend has been found.

Eye In The Sky is looking for compassionate volunteers to help us reunite lost dogs with their families.

You don’t need previous search experience. If you can give your time, we can give you the training and support.

We’re looking for people who can help with:
• Ground searches
• Checking CCTV and Ring doorbell footage
• Putting up posters
• Social media awareness
• Speaking with owners and witnesses
• Drone pilots (if you have your own drone)

Whether you can help once a month or several times a week, every volunteer makes a difference. The more people we have across the UK, the more families we can help when they need us most.

HE’S HOME ❤️

After an incredibly emotional few days, Teenie has been found.

I’ll share the full story later, but Teenie was exactly where we feared he might be, deep in thick undergrowth, caught by his lead and unable to free himself.

It was Kalina from our team who heard the faint sound of barking. We climbed the bank, pushing through dense undergrowth, and eventually found him caught.

Teenie is now safe, back where he belongs, with his incredibly grateful owners.

A huge thank you to every single person who shared our posts, reported information, and especially to everyone who gave up their time to volunteer and attend today’s searches. The support from the community has been incredible, and we are so grateful to each and every one of you.

🚨 WE NEED YOUR HELP TO FIND TENI 🚨

We now believe Teni has become caught up in the dense undergrowth, and we urgently need your help to find him.

It has now been almost 48 hours since Teni went missing. If he is trapped by his lead and unable to free himself, every search we carry out gives him a better chance of being found.

We're organising two search parties today and are asking as many people as possible to come along and help.

The search area is extremely challenging, with thick brambles, dense undergrowth and uneven ground. Please wear long sleeves, long trousers and sturdy footwear. With today's hot weather, bring plenty of water.

We really do need your help.

The more people searching, the greater the chance of finding Teni. One person noticing something unusual could make all the difference.

It is extremely dense undergrowth, and we spent several hours yesterday searching through it in very difficult conditions. Despite covering as much ground as possible, it’s a large area and it’s impossible to check every inch.

🚨 MISSING – HIGHCLIFFE 🚨

Today we started the search for Teni, a Jack Russell × Chihuahua, alongside Jenny from DogLost.

Teni has been missing since the afternoon of 18th July, after running off while out on a walk close to home.

As Teni is still attached to his lead, we spent several hours searching in very hot conditions, cutting our way through dense undergrowth where needed to make sure he hadn’t become caught.

Unfortunately, despite an extensive search, we were unable to locate him. He may still be caught up in the undergrowth, or he may have followed one of the many paths leading away from the area.

If you’re walking in the area around Highcliffe Castle, please keep a close eye out. If you see Teni, or even hear barking coming from the undergrowth near the beach, please call 07973 635655 immediately.

If you live nearby, please:

✅ Check your CCTV, Ring doorbell or security cameras.
✅ Thoroughly search your gardens, sheds and any sheltered areas.

Time is critical, and we need to get Teni home safely.
