Storm Dave was causing issues with camera shake as it was beginning to batter the Dorset coast on Saturday evening.

The waves were crashing against the rocks and the spray was relentless. I decided after a lot of fighting against the elements to finally hide behind a rock.

There was low lying cloud so my intended sunset image wouldn’t be anything but grey cloud so I opted for a black and white edit of Pulpit Rock.

I hope you like my image 😊

I have had to blend part of a second frame to remove water droplets on the front filter that was causing softness and a distraction.

My wife booked us a nights stay in Weymouth for my birthday so we took a trip to Portland Bill Lighthouse.

Initially I wanted to photograph Pulpit Rock however the sky was more interesting behind the lighthouse after the constant rain we had.

This photo was taken shortly before the sun disappeared behind the horizon.

29th December 2025

It’s been a while since I’ve posted on this page but my wife and I have had a short trip away at Lyme Regis on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset.

I took a walk across to Monmouth Beach during twilight to find a spot to capture the sunrise.
When I stumbled across this fossil in the dark under torch light I was like a big kid jumping up and down in excitement!

Unfortunately the cloud settled on the horizon blocking the sunrise but I’m happy with this photo I have managed to come away with.

It’s a stack of multiple images blended together to increase the exposure time to smooth out the waves, it was windy so I did not want to do an extremely long exposure because of the vibration and movement of the camera would cause the whole image to be blurry.

0.6sec exposure (multiple shots stacked to increase long exposure effect)
Basic local adjustments in Lightroom with generative fill/spot removal of an oil tanker ship on the horizon.

3 frames from the Hope WMN Enduro in the Forest of Dean- 6th Sept 2025.

I had a great day behind the lens photographing the women’s enduro.

The event was extremely well organised and such a friendly and encouraging atmosphere.

Thanks, Steve

Norway - June/July 2025

We had such an amazing time on our cruise, missed a few stops unfortunately. I really wanted to visit the Lofoton Islands however apparently due to bad weather we had to dock in Narvik instead. The trip we took at Narvik was The Arctic Train. That was lovely and picturesque however not entirely happy with the images from there as I had to take them through thick double glazed train windows. The views out of our balcony were spectacular at times.

So, Norway was picturesque!
We took a Norwegian cruise, unfortunately a couple of our planned destinations were cancelled due to poor weather. However, I did manage to capture some of Norway’s beautiful scenery.

I really wished delivery companies would take care with flat cardboard and do not bend envelopes. Unusable 😡
