I was asked to restore some very old photographs that had been found in an old wallet - these are just a few of them and have to be around 100 to 110 years old and during the first world war. They were on very thin pieces of paper and had faded quite considerably. The photos were also very small and dirty with years of dust that had accumulated. However, some of the photos were surprisingly quite sharp, and once I cleaned them up, they came out pretty good considering how old they were. The owner asked to change the photos from sepia as they appear to have more detail in black and white.

I was asked to scan some old photos for someone and have restored this one showing the before and after the restoration.
The person said this sailor was her grandad and he died at 39. Her mum was only three months old when he died of TB. His name was William Garrard and when he married the person's grandmother, she already had a little girl. They went on to have four more girls so the grandmother was left with five girls when he died. He fought in the first world war on the ship The Campbell and was in quite a famous campaign, and apparently he was a very lovely man, so his photo deserves to be restored.
