Most business owners don’t suddenly decide they need new brand photos.

It’s usually something they’ve been noticing for a while.

Their business has evolved, but they’re still using the same handful of photos that no longer tell the whole story.

That’s why I created the Summer Brand Boost.

A gentle opportunity to refresh your photo library this summer, so you head into autumn with images that reflect where your business is now.

Today is the final day to book.

If you’ve been thinking, “My photos don’t really represent my business anymore,” I’d love to hear from you.

Send me a message if you’d like to chat.

Summer often has a different rhythm.

For some people, it’s school holidays around the corner. For others, it’s time away, longer evenings, or simply a little more breathing space.

When things slow down slightly, it’s often easier to notice things that have been sitting quietly in the background.

One of those can be your brand photos.

I often speak to business owners who have been using the same images for years. They’ve been focused on serving clients, growing their business and getting on with the work.

Then one day they look at their website or Facebook profile and realise something feels out of step.

The business has changed.
The way they work has evolved.
Their confidence has grown.
Their focus has become clearer.
But their photos are still telling an older story.

That’s why a virtual brand photo shoot isn’t just about taking new pictures. It’s about understanding where your business is now and creating images that reflect that.

Sometimes a little space is all that’s needed to notice what’s ready for attention next.

Today I photographed a client while sitting in York.

My client was in Great Windsor Park.

A few years ago, that would have involved travel, diaries, logistics and a very long day. Instead, we met online, I guided the shoot remotely, and together we created a collection of brand photographs in a beautiful outdoor location hundreds of miles away.

That’s the power of virtual photography.

It allows people to choose locations that feel right for them, wherever they happen to be. It removes travel barriers and makes professional brand photography accessible in a completely different way.

What I love most is that the experience still feels personal. We talked, laughed and created photographs that reflect who someone is and where their business is now.

Today’s office was York.
Today’s photo shoot was in Great Windsor Park.
Technology is a wonderful thing.

What’s one way technology has helped you today?

I’ve been a little quieter on social media over the past few months.

Life has included some unexpected changes and transitions, and much of my energy has gone into looking after my health, supporting clients, and finding my feet in a new chapter.

One thing I’ve noticed is that when life gets full, it’s easy to focus on the things right in front of you and spend less time staying connected with people further afield.

I’ve missed some of those connections.

So this is simply a note to say hello.

I’ve still been working with clients, guiding virtual brand photo shoots, helping people feel more comfortable in front of the camera, and creating photos that reflect who they are now, rather than who they were a few years ago.

As things settle, I’d like to spend a little more time here again. Not because I have big announcements, but because I’ve always enjoyed the conversations, encouragement, and glimpses into other people’s lives and businesses.

If we’ve not caught up for a while, I’d love to hear how you’re doing and what’s been keeping you busy recently.

Are you waiting to feel more ready before updating your photos?

More confident.
More visible.
More organised.
More certain about what they want.

But often the business has already evolved long before their visibility catches up.

I see this a lot with thoughtful business owners balancing growth, life and limited mental space all at once. Their work has moved forward, but their photos still belong to an earlier stage of the business, so visibility starts feeling slightly disconnected.

What helps is rarely more pressure to show up bigger. What helps is a gentler starting point.

Clear guidance.
Simple preparation.
Small steps.
A calmer process.

When people feel guided instead of pressured, they usually stop trying to perform and start recognising themselves in the images again. That is often when visibility begins to feel more natural and more connected to the business they have already grown into.

What would make updating your photos feel lighter right now?

It’s time to take your coat off.

Have you noticed the hawthorn blossom coming out yet?

I saw it this morning and it brought back something my dad used to say.
Ne’er cast a clout till may is out.
In Yorkshire, may doesn’t mean the month, it means the hawthorn blossom, and clout simply means clothing.

It’s easy to hear it the other way and think it’s about the calendar.
But it’s about what you can actually see in front of you- the hedgerows changing, the air warming.

Blossom, not the month.
What you can see, not what you assume.
A quiet signal, easy to miss.

I often think brand photos work the same way. Not following a set time or trend, but noticing what’s actually changed and capturing that.

If you spot the may blossom on the hedges, you’ll know it’s time to take your coat off.

One woman said something in a session this week that stayed with me.

She teaches investing. She is light, warm, and playful.
And she felt there was a disconnect.
How could someone like her be trusted with something so serious.

The instinct is often to change something.
To make yourself appear more serious. More professional.
More aligned with what people expect.

But what I have seen time and time again is this.
There is no disconnect when people are given the chance to experience you properly.

It is not about changing who you are.
It is about allowing people to understand you.
That happens through process.
Through conversation.
Through being seen in a way that reflects how you actually work.

This is where photos become part of something bigger.
Not just an image, but an experience of you.

If you know someone who is trying to fit themselves into how they think they should look, you might share this with them.

Something came up yesterday that made me pause.

Someone had read about my virtual photo shoots and thought it meant taking selfies.
And I realised how easy it is to misunderstand what a virtual shoot actually is.
It is not about holding your phone out and hoping for the best.

You are not doing this on your own.
Your phone is set up on a tripod.
I guide you the whole way through.
I direct, adjust, and take the photos remotely.

You focus on being present, not performing.

The result is a set of professional brand photos that feel like you.
Often more relaxed than being in front of someone in person.

If you have ever wondered whether a virtual shoot could work for you, this is usually the missing piece.

And if you know someone who feels awkward in front of the camera but still needs good photos, you are very welcome to pass this on.

A client had a virtual shoot with me and commented how relaxed and easy it felt.
No pressure, no performing, just being guided step by step.

A few days later, she mentioned it to another business owner.
Someone who had never even heard of a virtual shoot before.
She went away, looked it up, read through my blog, and came back saying she had no idea this was possible.

I think this is how visibility often grows.
Not through big announcements.
Through quiet conversations between people who trust each other.
One person experiences something.
They share it.
Someone else feels a little more open to trying it.

If you have worked with me and have ever mentioned it to someone else, I want you to know how much that means.
And if you know someone who would feel more comfortable being guided through a shoot like this, you are very welcome to pass this on.

I recently hosted a session on visibility for introverted business owners.
What came up was not what I expected.

Many people think visibility is about confidence.
But what I kept hearing was something else.

People were not lacking confidence.
They were lacking a way of being seen that felt like them.

Visibility is often described as being seen more.
But in practice, it is about being understood.
And photos are not the starting point.

They are part of a process that begins much earlier, with clarity, alignment, and feeling at ease in how you show up. When that is in place, visibility becomes lighter.

If visibility has been feeling heavy or unclear, it might not be about doing more.
It might be about being seen in a way that actually reflects you.

If this resonates, you are welcome to share it with someone who might need to hear it. And if you would like to explore this for yourself, you can book a discovery call by messaging me.
