Day 9 STRADA.Easel

I didn’t have time to finish the sea urchin, so I did a pebble instead. I almost missed the day, but fortunately this quick drawing filled a gap and saved the challenge. 🙈🤣

Sea urchin. Well, half of it anyway. It was the most beautiful and biggest one I had found, till I broke it. I managed to bring it home in one piece, but I’m quite clumsy and breaking it was inevitable 🙈🫪🤣 I didn’t have time to finish it, so I’ll be working on it tomorrow too. This was a quick last moment drawing. I have to say that my Derwent eraser is a lifesaver
I like how it’s coming along. I might go back at the first rock when I finish the whole piece. I kinda find it too dark at the moment, but I’ll have to be patient. What do you think? Should I lighten it?

Day 7 STRADA.Easel I can’t believe it’s already been a week. 😯

I’m not sure I’m done with it, but I’m done for today. I have to resist doing details in coloured pencils. My idea was to paint/ draw each rock in a different medium. An experiment, showing how each medium inspires me. For example, I tend to do a very detailed work in coloured pencils, while I use other techniques in the rest of the media.

Coloured pencils for today’s pebble. I made this one bigger. I also closed some gaps. The sea bed in Alkyonides islands is quite dark, so I chose to close the gaps with what it looks like dark pebbles.

I finished yesterday’s rock. I tried not to overwork it, as I wanted to keep some of the textures. Last two slides are the close ups from today and yesterday.

Day 2 challenge STRADA.Easel
Lithos & Hydor series, "Alkyonides" I’m only using rocks I gathered from Zoodochou Pigi island, which is part of the Alkyonides Islands.
For today’s rock I used coloured pencils. I’m going to continue this piece in different media. Each rock a different medium depending of how it inspires me. I’m choosing to use gouache, watercolour, coloured pencils and markers. It will be an interesting piece when will be done. I’m curious to see how all the media will look next to each other.
Also, I couldn’t resist adding some highlights on yesterday’s rock.

For today’s rock I used Caran d'Ache Luminance, Derwent Lightfast, Procolour, Atrists, on Fabriano hot pressed 9 x 12" paper

Day 1 challenge. I chose to go a bit darker on the colours, showing the deep shades of a wet rock.
I’m going to continue my Lithos & Hydor series through this year’s challenge. Started the first rock is in gouache. I have some ideas, not sure of how I’m going to continue this piece. I guess you’ll find out along the way. I guess I’ll find out along the way 😄
