Witnessing the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis for the first time was not only exhilarating, it felt deeply spiritual. It was as if a celestial being was making contact with us despicable humans. If you haven’t seen the Northern Lights (yet), to the naked eye it looks like someone in the sky is throwing large buckets of coloured rain. This colour is pale green, but on a phone or camera LCD screen it appears neon green with a glow. Now with a KP level 5 (of max KP 9) and 2025 being the peak year in an 11 year cycle, Aurora also shimmers in rare colours of blue and reddish magenta. What a treat! I not only experienced something literally out of this world, seeing this on the night of my birthday in October humbled me to the core. These pictures really cannot relive what I experienced but here it is, and number 15 also has an unexpected bonus - A wink from the Universe! Thank you Aurora 😍 Thank you Alaska 🙏

The Geminids was supposed to be the best meteor shower event of the year, reaching its peak on the night of December 13th leading into 14th. From the stratosphere, it probably was with upto 150 shooting stars an hour 🌠 On the ground it was a different story with massive cloud cover building up to thunderstorms. By the time clouds shifted, peak activity declined to 1 shooting star in about 3 minutes. But not to be discontent, the skies over the shawkah mountains had another plan in place, and it started at the crack of dawn 🌞

Haze and humidity aren’t the best elements for cityscape photography, especially here in the AE where a blue sky is dominated by a bland shade of grey for most months of the year.
