I talk about systems a lot.

And I know it can start to sound like one of those words that means everything… and nothing at the same time.

But it’s actually very simple.

A system is just deciding, ahead of time, how something is going to happen.

So you don’t have to think about it in the moment.

On a school shoot day, that might look like:

A clear flow for every child.
The same setup every time.
Defined roles within the team.
A process that repeats without needing to be reinvented.

Without systems, everything lives in your head,
and that’s where the overwhelm comes from.

With systems, the day feels lighter.
Calmer.
More predictable.

And that’s when you can actually enjoy the work 🩷

15K CHALLENGE — WEEK 17 šŸ‡«šŸ‡·

This week felt surreal. While my team kept things moving in Hong Kong (and doing such a beautiful job šŸ¤), I was in Paris for a business coaching event that honestly stretched my mind in the best way possible.

A year ago, I don’t think I would’ve believed this version of my life.

Sitting in rooms full of ambitious people.
Talking about growth, leadership, vision.
Then walking through Paris alone with a coffee, thinking about how much can change when you keep showing up. That level of trust used to scare me.

Now, watching my team continue creating beautiful work while I’m across the world… feels really special.

Also, important update:
French pastries and champagne remain excellent business coaching support tools šŸ˜…šŸ„‚

On to week 18. 🩷

Think bigger.
Ask for more.
Be a little delusional.

A year from now,
your life could look completely different.

15K CHALLENGE — WEEK 16

This week:
šŸ“ø a strong one.

One of those weeks that feels like a year.

A full mix of everything, a really organized school (the kind we love working with), a busy schedule,
moments that stretched me, challenged me, and reminded me why I do this.

And in between all of that… time with family, time with friends, and making sure I still showed up for myself too.

Because that part matters just as much.

This is what building something real looks like. Not just the work, but everything around it.

The balance, the growth, the moments that don’t make it onto a calendar.

And now, I’m ending the week on a plane to Paris… for something that, a year ago, I wouldn’t have even imagined.

It’s a quiet reminder of how much can change when you keep showing up 🩷

Most photographers think growing their photography business comes down to getting better photos.

Better editing.
Better gear.
Better technique.

But in reality, that’s rarely the thing holding you back.

If your work is already good, the real growth comes from what happens around the photos: your systems, your client experience, your relationships, and your consistency.

Building a photography business isn’t about waiting to feel motivated. It’s about creating structure that allows you to keep showing up, even on the days when you don’t feel like it.

That’s how you create stability.
That’s how you grow.
And that’s how you build something that actually lasts.

Most photographers think scaling their photography business means booking more shoots.

But without systems and structure, more work quickly leads to overwhelm and burnout.

True growth comes from building repeatable workflows, improving your client experience, and creating a business model that can handle volume without sacrificing quality.

That’s how you scale sustainably, by doing the same work better, not just doing more of it.

The energy at the start of the day:
✨ unstoppable
✨ caffeinated
✨ fully convinced we’re invincible

The energy at the end of the day:
please carry me home šŸ˜…

School photo days are some of the most fun, rewarding, high-energy days we have… and also the kind that leave you questioning whether your legs still work.

Worth it every single time 🩷

For a long time, I believed the thing that would grow my photography business was improving my work.

Better photos.
Better editing.
Better technique.

And of course those things matter. But the real shift happened when I stopped focusing only on the images… and started designing the entire client experience.

Because by the time someone receives their gallery, they’re not just remembering the photos. They’re remembering:

How easy it was to work with you.
How calm the process felt.
How their child was treated.
How the day flowed.
How the final images were delivered and presented.

That’s what turns a one-time client into someone who refers you, remembers you, and comes back.

Beautiful photos may get attention.
But a thoughtful client experience is what builds a sustainable photography business.

And in my experience?
That’s where the real growth begins 🩷

15K CHALLENGE — WEEK 15

This week:
šŸ“ø 23 people photographed

A slower week again, and one I really leaned into.
Time with family visiting.
Time with the kids.
Space to slow down and just be present.

Of course… hikes were non-negotiable.
And maybe a little champagne made its way in too šŸ„‚
Because not every week is about doing more.

Some weeks are about enjoying what you’ve built.
Letting it breathe and coming back with more energy for what’s next.

Balance, in progress… with a side of bubbles šŸ˜…šŸ©·

On to week 16.

Most photographers think they need more clients to grow their photography business.

But often, what’s missing isn’t more bookings — it’s a stronger client experience.

When your systems, communication, and workflow create a calm and thoughtful experience, you naturally get more referrals, repeat clients, and long-term relationships.

That’s how you build a sustainable photography business, not by constantly chasing new clients, but by strengthening the experience you already offer.

Between early mornings, full shoot days, and everything happening behind the scenes… coffee is very much part of the process.

But honestly, so are the little moments in between.

The laughs.
The quick breaks.
The energy we bring into each day.

Because yes, we work hard, but we also really enjoy what we’re building together.

And maybe… just maybe… coffee helps a little šŸ©·ā˜•

Where are the coffee lovers?

15K CHALLENGE — WEEK 14

This week:
šŸ“ø 6 people photographed

A very different kind of week.

Time with family.
Celebrating Qingming and Easter together.
Slowing down enough to actually be present with my kids.

And even a few days away in Phuket with two close friends, which felt really special.

Not every week is about volume.

Some weeks are about living the life you’re building all of this for.

Resting.
Resetting.
Reconnecting.

Because the work matters…
but so does everything around it.

Grateful for this pace, this season, and the space to step back when needed 🩷
