It won’t be long now.
For two decades, this lone wind turbine has stood amid the hills of Lamma Island, a showcase of renewable energy and future possibilities from Hong Kong Electric.
But now, its days are numbered. Back in March, the power company announced it would be decommissioning this iconic spinning fixture of the island and taking it down come the end of May.
The sun is setting on Hong Kong’s only commercial wind turbine, and it will be gone within weeks, perhaps days. So if you’ve always wanted to pay this rare sight a visit and take the once-popular hike up to “Lamma Winds”, this is your last chance.
