"Jacky, drink coffee." "Jacky, eat more." "Jacky, this is my favorite part of the meat. Here I will share with you." "How about some fresh mango lassi, Jacky?" 😇
My last day in Bali (this round) started in the village. Brother Putu invited me over for ceremony at his uncle's house. When I showed up at the family compound, the suckling pig's bronze-colored skin was crackling over an open fire🔥Putu had been manually rotating the skewered pig for the last 45 minutes! These men got up at 5am to prepare the 🐖 A Balinese favorite, commonly served as an assortment of meat and skin, spiced with an aromatic herb stock cooked inside the pig, accompanied by rice and delighting a full spectrum of sensorial notes 😋 They handed me different sections of the pig to sample while freewheelingly chopping the meat off the bone, occasionally crying out, "hot, hot!", before offering me another piece to taste. What a send off! I felt so blessed the whole day 🙏
A single frangipani flower (swipe right) was my contribution to the feast. Almost nonestop smiles of course 😆 I believe smiles to human beings are what flowers are to plants 🌺🤗
As I bid adieu to this island of the gods, countless, nameless, Balinese faces appear in my mind's stream. Genuine connection with others feeds my soul. Thank you for your smiles, openness, and warmth. I pray for you. I pray for all 🙏
