Atho’ Ullah was born in Bangkalan, East Java on June 3th. He studied photography spontaneously, until he showed his seriousness in Photojournalism by becoming a workshop participant in Galeri Foto Jurnalistik Antara (GFJA), a nonprofit institution under the Indonesian News Agency, Antara in 2011 – 2012. His first group Photo Exhibition titled “Imatajinasi” was held on 16 March – 16 April 2012 alon

g with 31 other young photographers in Jakarta. One of his photographs is selected as the Best Photo Of The Day by UK News Photo Agency, Demotix. And sometimes, his photo also featured in the site’s headline. His experience ranged from various photographic assignments from different countries. For him, understanding the world of journalism is one form of self-recognition as social human being who is forced to interact with each other, delivering message through visual work about everything he sees. Journalism Photography for him is a unique challenge where responsibility on the picture to be taken, message to be delivered clash with the available situation and condition in the field. Because every shutter he takes is like a breath. Workshop:
