A lot of people are sharing their work from 2016. For me, weddings weren’t my main focus back then.

I was more drawn to cars, sports and events. But from that time, I still have what is probably some of the most important photographs I’ve ever taken.

This is one of my best friends, Ciarán Mallon, looking back at his own car.

Ciarán passed away suddenly in December 2017. It was a massive shock to everyone who knew him, and it still doesn’t feel real when I think back on it. Every year when these photos appear in my memories, they stop me in my tracks and remind me just how fragile time really is.

Even before photography became my full-time career, I understood the value of documenting life, because moments pass, people leave, but stories and images can last a lifetime.

Your only job on your wedding day is to be present.
Hold hands. Take a breath. Look around.
Let your suppliers take care of the schedule, the timings, and the details.
When couples are truly present, everything else falls into place. The nerves ease, the laughter comes naturally, and the most meaningful moments happen without trying.
That’s when the day feels exactly as it should and those are the moments you’ll treasure forever 🤍

Thank you so much for following along with my 5 days of wedding tips. These are the things I see matter most, wedding after wedding, calm mornings, trust in your suppliers, real connection, and being fully present on the day.
If you take one thing from this week, let it be this: the best weddings aren’t perfect, they’re relaxed, emotional, and full of real moments.

Weddings aren’t just about the couple, they’re about everyone who loves them.
A groom waiting at the altar (and yes, I now personally know the nerves that come with that😂).
A mum watching her daughter get ready.
A first look.
The laughs shared throughout the day.
A squeeze of the hand. A quiet glance.
Those moments tell the real story of the day.

Because you’ve spent the morning with me, laughed, relaxed, and built that connection, I fit in naturally with the family and guests. That trust allows me to get up close and personal, capturing emotion in shots that might not happen if that bond wasn’t there. It’s these little connections that create the best, most authentic moments, and ultimately, the images couples treasure forever without you even knowing that I am there 🤍

You spend more time with your suppliers on your wedding day than almost anyone else!
From the morning right through to the first dance. That’s why connection matters. Your suppliers shouldn’t feel like strangers working around you, but people you trust, feel comfortable with, and can genuinely relax around.
It’s also really important to have suppliers who work well together. Most couples book their photographer first and often ask who we’d recommend, from planners and videographers to hair and makeup. Over time, we get to know the makeup artists and hair stylists who run on time, understand the flow of the morning, and know what I need, just as I know what they need.
It’s not about saying these are the people you must book. It’s simply sharing experience from weddings that ran beautifully because the team worked well together.
When suppliers get on well, communicate clearly, and understand each other, everything runs smoother. Timing improves, pressure eases, and the couple feels it too.
Having the craic matters. A relaxed supplier leads to a relaxed couple, and that calm energy carries through the entire day. Experience is important, but harmony is just as important.
When there’s trust, honesty, and a good connection, the day flows naturally and everyone gets to enjoy it 🤍

Today’s post isn’t so much a tip, it’s more about trust!

If there are kids in the house on the morning of the wedding, they can often be my first priority. From the moment I arrive, I’m quietly trying to win them over so they feel comfortable and relaxed.
Once that happens, you’re far more likely to get those natural smiles and little moments later in the day. It also allows parents to relax, knowing their child is happy and settled.
Those moments are always gold. They bring so much life and emotion to the photos and often end up being some of the most memorable images from the day.
For couples, it’s another reason to trust your suppliers and let the morning unfold naturally, the little things you don’t plan for often become the moments you treasure most. 🤍
(And yes, you’ll hear me mention suppliers a few times this week 😂)
