"The Sleeping Giant Has Awoken"

Legend Of The Connemara Giant.
Local legend says that if you touch the hand of the giant you will be blessed with the knowledge of his ancient tribe. This large statue is a must stop if travelling through Connemara towards Clifden 👍

"Old Red Iron"

Originally built in 1906 this now unused and abandoned bridge was part of the route which linked Cork and Kerry to the Port of Rosslare via Waterford. The bridge has 9 spans. The central part could open for shipping however it has been subsequently removed. With a length of 1,205 ft, the Old Red Iron bridge was once one of the longest in the country.

Carrigaholt Castle on the coast of Co.Clare, it's claimed that a room in this castle has remained sealed since the 1920s and has not been tampered with since an exorcist was found dead the morning after attempting to enter the chamber............

During the 15th century, the castle withstood multiple sieges until the Earl of Thomond captured it 1590. In spite of having promised to allow the defenders go free, they were all hanged. The bawn around the castle is claimed to be haunted by the ghosts of Visount Clare and his regiment of horse, "The Yellow Dragoons”, raised to assist James II against the Williamites.

Built in the 1480's by the McMahons, it's one of the more traditional tower houses seen in Ireland with a murder hole above the entrance, a mural winding staircase and pistol loops.
The last inhabitants of the castle were the Burton family, who left it in the late 19th century.
