Loved working in Di**le once again for “Other Voices” festival. Helped build a studio/performance area for “Ireland’s Edge” podcast. Di**le is magical this time of year with creatives & musicians taking over the town. Got to catch up with old friends while messing around with cameras and lighting, you could hardly call it work.

Hectic week filming with celebrity chef Clodagh McKenna and ITV’s “This Morning Show” lots of activities, ceol & craic as well as a live segment into the show this morning from Blarney Castle. Great to be reminded what Cork & Kerry have to offer with Derrynane Pier high on my list of locations visited. Going to be tired at the end of this one.

Great to be back out filming documentary today with Shannon Coast Guard. Loving my new aperture MC lights, used in this instance to add a blue wash to the cab of the chopper. Covid regulations and safety protocols limited out filming opportunities but an interesting day all the same.

Im sure most people have seen the brilliant documentary 13th available on Netflix. I would however love to hear peoples thoughts on the interview framing. I personally thought it was bonkers and really distracting for the most part. I can somewhat understand and in fact I like the wide frame on Angela Davis interview because her location is Epic and beautiful but Henry Louis interview? WTF. Am I getting old and not keeping with the times or what. The DP said they wanted Arty framing but surely there is a happy medium. I felt he was trying to be edgy and breaking norms and it just backfired here, get over yourself. Would love to hear Industry friends thoughts on this. Just to be clear, In some instances I like this approach such as in the documentary "Older than Ireland".

Anyone in the Cork area have a basic autocue setup I can borrow next week, one that uses iPad or iPhone would suffice.

It’s been a blast, over 2 weeks filming a feature Documentary in the UAE with Colm Nicell.. we are totally shattered but grateful for the opportunity. I’m really looking forward to coming home to my little women and of course my amazing wife Michelle Kennedy who held the fort while I was away. Here are a few ungraded frame grabs from the Doc and behind the scenes shenanigans for anyone interested.

Week one finished of a feature documentary in Sharjah that I was asked to be Director Of Photography on. It’s an historical piece about Neolithic settlements at the base of the Hajar mountain range. Looking forward to next Thursday when we shoot drama reconstructions and bring the past to life. Watch this space!

I had the pleasure of being lighting cameraman as part of a 2 man team with the uber talented Kevin Broad following Katie Taylor for a weekend in Bray. Check out this nice teaser and if you want to learn more about this amazing woman you can access the full feature online.

She's read it countless times but as Irish boxer Katie Taylor recites Psalm 18 her voice audibly drops an octave and her body language noticeably relaxes.
