I am an enthusiastic amateur photographer with a love of the outdoors and nature and have a passion for sunrise, sunset, landscape, and wildlife photography. There is so much to learn and so much to see so hoping to strike a balance between the two. There are so many simple pleasures on our doorstep and beauty can be found in every moment in all kinds of weather if you just look in the right place with an open mind.

Memories of a peaceful dawn by these old crosses on this day 2024 at Kilwirra Church ruins. The old graveyard and church ruins at Kilwirra/Cill Mhuire Church and Cemetery is situated at Templetown on the Cooley Peninsula surrounded by farmland nestled in the Cooley Mountains. The name Kilwirra is derived from the Irish ‘Cill Mhuire’ which means Mary 's Church. The site is associated with the Knights Templar which was founded in 1118 by Hugh de Payens. The ancient graveyard contains Templar graves with the insignia of the cross and the lamb.

The BAP Unión tall ship was anchored off Dun Laoghaire this day last year, while a seagull looked on from its perch atop the Roger Casement statue. The Peruvian Naval training vessel was docked in Dublin from September 6th to 9th that year as part of a European tour.

Took a short boat ride with Ken the Ferryman & son this day last year over to Dalkey Island but never got around to posting some photos. This uninhabited island is home to the ruins of St. Begnet’s Church, a Martello tower, and an ancient gun battery. We were greeted by a friendly herd of goats and some curious seals. A lovely way to spend a few hours.

📍Ballycotton Lighthouse

A wonderful visit out to Ballycotton Island last Sunday with Ballycotton Sea Adventures. Our skipper was Tim and our tour guide John was full of interesting information about the lighthouse and other buildings on the island. Definitely look into doing the tour if you are in the area.

Ballycotton Lighthouse was built following the tragic 1847 wreck of the SS Sirius in Ballycotton Bay. It was designed by George Halpin and first lit in June, 1851. The tower was initially unpainted but was painted entirely black by 1902 to prevent confusion with a nearby abandoned beacon on Capel Island - making it one of only 2 black lighthouses in Ireland (the other being Slyne Head in Galway). The light switched from paraffin to electricity in 1975 and was fully automated in March 1992.

Love ‘The Little Free Library’ initiative and its ‘take a book, leave/return a book’ ethos. This beautiful one is in
Crosshaven, Co. Cork. The broader ‘Little Free Library’ movement originated in Wisconsin in 2009 - created by Todd Bol as a tribute to his mother - and has since grown into a global network of thousands of community run street libraries.

A few more shots from last night’s moon rise over Roches Point taken from across the water on Church Bay near Crosshaven, Co. Cork. The clouds didn’t allow a full view but maybe provided a more unique one. At any rate I was very happy - a great week of moon watching.
