Honoured that The Irish Question will be part of a programme of film and moving image work at the Irish Museum of Modern Art from the 4th - 17th of February as part of the Living Canvas in partnership with the RDS.

Made while I was a student at NCAD, it was really important in shaping the direction of my career and gave me the confidence to continue making films.

I spent many hours as a student being inspired at IMMA, so it's a dream to be showing there!

Honoured that Turf has been selected for inclusion in Ireland's Border Culture digital archive by Trinity College Dublin and Queen's University Belfast.

“In capturing some of the artistic legacy of the border’s 100-year existence, the project has spotlighted the significance of writers, painters, photographers and film-makers in articulating the full complexity of life around the border region. We hope that this resource will be used by teachers, students, cultural historians and policy-makers, and members of the public at home and abroad, who are interested in Ireland’s border experience.” - Dr Garrett Carr, Seamus Heaney Centre.

TRAVELLER (1981)

In the 1970s and 1980s director Joe Comerford was perhaps the most revolutionary voice of Irish cinema. Traveller displays his sense of formal radicalism and activist engagement early on in his career with a dark road trip into the heart of the Northern Irish conflict. Scripted by Neil Jordan, the film follows the Irish travellers Michael and Angela who head north of the border to smuggle electrical equipment. However, meeting an IRA man along the way complicates their journey and leads them on a treacherous path of no return.

Pre-programme: the short film Turf (2022) by Ara Devine (Ara Devine - Artist/Filmmaker).
