There’s something about animals in their own landscape that just feels… right.
Today I photographed the sweetest horse and donkey in the Black Valley, tucked away here near Gap of Dunloe.
Neighbours’ pets, quietly grazing, completely unbothered by the world. The kind of calm you can almost hear.
The mountains wrapped around us. That deep Irish green doing what it does best. Mist hanging low, light shifting every few minutes. Honestly, I think Ireland shows off a little in places like this.
They stood so close to each other. Comfortable. Curious. A little suspicious of my camera at first, then soft again. It reminded me why I love photographing animals. No posing. No pretending. Just presence.
And the Black Valley? It never disappoints.
