Guest Speakers - Wednesday, 28 October

Limerick Camera Club is delighted to welcome Céline Mermier & Avia Gurman for an inspiring evening of photography on Wednesday, 28 October at 8:00pm.

Join us as Céline and Avia and share their unique photographic journeys, creative influences, and personal perspectives behind their work. Through their images and stories, they will offer an insight into how they see and capture the world around them.
Both photographers will be joining us in person, providing a wonderful opportunity to meet them, view their work, and hear first-hand about their photographic experiences.

Thank You for a Fantastic Show & Tell Night!

A huge thank you to Marcin, Rey, Kacper and Padraic for sharing their wonderful photographs and personal photography journeys with us last night.

We were treated to a fantastic collection of images, each accompanied by the stories behind them, making for a truly engaging and inspiring evening. Our presenters also generously shared valuable tips and techniques for capturing macro photography and landscape images, giving us plenty of ideas to try ourselves.

Thank you for your time, enthusiasm and willingness to share your knowledge with fellow members. It was a super night of photography, learning and inspiration.

Show & Tell Night – Not to Be Missed!

This week, we're delighted to welcome Kacper, Rey, Marcin and Padraic as they showcase their photography and share the stories behind their images.

A huge thank you to Kacper, Rey and Marcin for volunteering to present. As newer members of the club, we're especially grateful for their willingness to step up and share their work with us.

We're also looking forward to hearing from Padraic, whose years of photographic experience always bring valuable knowledge, practical tips and inspiration.

It's shaping up to be a super night of photography, and we can't wait to see what everyone has to share!

Thank You for a Great Night Out!

A big thank you to everyone who joined us for our night photography shoot at Curragour Park on Wednesday evening.
The weather was kind to us, staying dry throughout the night, and it was fantastic to see so many cameras out capturing the city lights, reflections and long-exposure scenes.

A special thank you goes to our more experienced members who generously shared their knowledge, tips and time with those who are newer to night photography. That willingness to help and support one another is what makes our club such a welcoming and enjoyable place to learn.

A special word of thanks to Des for generously sharing his time, experience and expertise throughout the evening. His guidance and practical advice were invaluable to members who were trying night photography techniques and long exposures for the first time.

It was wonderful to see members chatting, exchanging ideas and comparing shots throughout the evening. The friendly atmosphere, combined with some great photographic opportunities, made for a very enjoyable and engaging night.

We're looking forward to seeing all the fantastic images that were captured!

Change of Schedule - Night Photography Shoot

Hi everyone,

Due to access restrictions at Mary I this week, we have made a change to our schedule and will swap our planned activities.
This Wednesday, 14th October, we will be holding our Night Photography Shoot at Curragour Park, Limerick City.

Meeting Point: Curragour Park
Meeting Time: 6:30pm

Sunset is at approximately 6:44pm, giving us the opportunity to capture the transition from dusk into blue hour and full night photography.

We appreciate that some members may be coming directly from work, so if you can't make the 6:30pm start, feel free to join us later during the evening.

What to bring:
• Camera
• Tripod (essential)
• Fully charged batteries (and a spare if you have one)
• Memory card with plenty of space
• Remote shutter release (if you have one)
• Torch or headlamp
• Warm clothing
• Gloves
• Comfortable footwear

There should be plenty of opportunities to photograph city lights, reflections on the River Shannon, bridges, light trails and long-exposure cityscapes.

Thank You, Terry Conroy!

A sincere thank you to Terry Conroy of Portlaoise Camera Club for judging our first competition of the season and for providing such thoughtful, constructive, and beneficial feedback to all who entered.

Competitions are not just about placing well; they are an important learning opportunity, and Terry's insightful comments offered valuable guidance and encouragement for photographers of all levels. His observations highlighted both the strengths of the images and areas for development, giving members plenty of inspiration to take forward into future competitions.

The challenge theme of "Red" produced a wonderful and diverse range of entries, showcasing the creativity, imagination, and photographic talent within the club. It was fantastic to see so many different interpretations of the theme, making for a highly competitive and engaging evening.

Congratulations to all who entered and contributed to such a strong display of work. The quality of the images on show made for a thoroughly enjoyable night and demonstrated the enthusiasm and commitment of our members.

Thank you once again to Terry for sharing his time, expertise, and experience with us, and to everyone who participated and helped make the evening such a success.

We look forward to seeing what everyone creates for our next competition!

Monthly Competition Night – Wednesday 7th October

Our first competition of the season takes place on Wednesday 7th October, and we're looking forward to a great evening of photography and friendly competition!

We're delighted to welcome Terry Conroy of Portlaoise Camera Club as our guest judge for the night.

Whether you're a seasoned competitor or entering for the first time, why not take a chance and submit an image? Competitions are a fantastic opportunity to challenge yourself, receive constructive feedback, and see how fellow members interpret the theme.

Guest Speaker – Shaun Antle | Wednesday 30th September

Based in Ontario, Canada, Shaun is an internationally recognised and award-winning photographer, storyteller and speaker, and we’re very excited to have him joining us via Zoom from Canada.

His work covers an impressive range of genres, including travel, landscape and wildlife photography, lifestyle portraits, pet photography and aerial photography. His photography has been featured by Canadian Geographic, Canon Canada, Sigma Canada, and other notable organisations

Shaun’s work is exceptional, and this promises to be a fascinating and inspiring evening for anyone who enjoys photography. His images, creativity and storytelling make this a talk that is really worth coming along to.

What Judges Look For in Competitions!

A big thank you to everyone who submitted images for our Camera Club evening, “What Judges Look For in Competitions.”

It was fantastic to see such a wide variety of images and, more importantly, to have members willing to put their work forward for discussion and feedback.

A special thank you to our more experienced members who generously shared their knowledge and gave constructive feedback on each image — discussing what worked well and, just as importantly, what could be improved to help strengthen an image for competition.

The aim of the evening was not simply to say whether an image was good or bad, but to look at composition, lighting, impact, technique and storytelling, and to understand how small changes can sometimes make a big difference.

Hopefully everyone came away with a few new ideas to try with their own photography — and perhaps a different way of looking at their images before entering them into a competition.

Thank you again to everyone who took part and contributed to a really enjoyable and informative evening.

Keep shooting, keep learning, and keep sharing!
