Nang pumutok ang balita na ang gobyerno ng Hong Kong ay magbibigay ng tulong na humigit-kumulang 6 milyong piso sa mga pamilya ng mga Domestic Helpers na biktima ng sunog, muling bumaha sa mga comment section ang katagang "Sana All" ng mga Pinoy.

Maraming nadismaya at napatanong "Ano yon gusto nyo ding masunog para magkapera ang pamilya nyo?"

Ngunit kung v ating pag-iisipang mabuti at unawain ang nilalaman ng puso ng isang Pilipino, maaring noong napa "Sana All"sila ay HINDI sila naghahangad na mapabilang sa isang trahedya, Hindi nila hinihiling na masunog at mabayaran ang kanyang kamatayan. Walang sinuman ang magkakagusto ng ganoon.

Noong napa "Sana All" sila ay sumisigaw sila ng pananabik para sa isang sistemang napakaganda. Ito ay pagkamangha at inggit para sa isang gobyerno na tumutugon sa trahedya nang mabilis at sapat.
Naikokompara nila ang karanasan sa ating sariling bansa sa panahon ng trahedya o kalamidad.

Kapag may sakuna sa Pilipinas sunog, bagyo, baha nakikita natin ang ating mga kababayan na halos umaasa sa kabayanihan ng mga boluntaryo, sa kabaitan ng mga pribadong donor, at sa katatagan ng mga pamilya mismo.

Ang tulong ng gobyerno, kapag dumating, madalas na pinupuna dahil sa pagkaantala, kakulangan, o kung minsan tinatago muna sa mga bodega.

Kaya noong makita natin kung paano pahalagahan ng Hongkong ang bawat biktima ng pantay pantay ay mapapa "Sana All" nga naman ang isang Pinoy.

Ang gobyerno ng Hong Kong, sa pagkakataong ito, ay nagpakita ng isang makapangyarihang halimbawa. Isang halimbawa ng pagtrato sa mga biktima nang may dignidad.

Ang "Sana All"ng Pinoy sa pagkakataong ito ay higit pa sa isang meme. Ito ay isang pamantayan.
Ito ay nangangahulugan ng pananabik na sana magaya ng Pilipinas ang gobyerno ng Hongkong.

Nakikipagluksa kami para sa mga biktima ng sunog sa Taipo at umaasa kami na ang mga aksyon ng kanilang pamahalaan ay maging isang halimbawa.

Sobrang bigat ng episode today ng segment na ‘to. ‘Yung mga players ngayon ay ‘yung mga naapektuhan ng nagdaang kalamidad (lindol at bagyo) sa Cebu at Negros Occidental. Sila sila yung mga biktima ng maling pamamalakad at pangungurakot ng gobyerno.

Sa last round, Vice purposely gave Nanay Disyang the easiest question “1+1” para makuha niya yung 1 Million. And on top of that, Vice and the whole Showtime hosts decided to give another 1 Million na paghahatian ng mga players para may maiuwi sa mga pamilya nila. 🥹

Matagal nang alam ni Kim Chiu na matagal nang kinakalkal o ginagamit nang mali ni Lakam Chiu ang kanyang pondo. Sinubukan talaga nilang ayusin ito at pinalawak ni Kim ang kanyang pang-unawa kay Ate Lakam. Nagkabati pa raw sila noong nakaraang buwan.
Pero nagsampa pa rin siya ng kaso qualified theft.

Bakit?

At bakit qualified theft?

Nagsimula ang lahat noong ma-diagnose si Lakam Chiu ng bacterial meningitis noong 2023, isang sakit na napakadelikado na umabot pa sa puntong tinawag ng mga doktor ang kanyang kondisyon na “hopeless.”
Comatose si Lakam nang pitong araw at nasa kritikal na kondisyon sa unang limang araw ng kanyang 18-araw na confinement.

Sa loob ng ilang araw, hindi siya makapagsalita, makarinig, o makakita. Napakagrabe ng kondisyon niya na pinag-usapan na ng medical team sa pamilya ang posibilidad ng “do-not-resuscitate” (DNR) pinapipirma na si Kim Chiu at ang pamilya para dito.

Pero gumaling si Lakam at inilarawan ng pamilya at media ang kanyang paggaling bilang “miraculous.” Na-discharge siya noong Mayo 2023.

Nagpahayag si Lakam ng matinding pasasalamat sa “miracle” na ito sa kanyang Instagram noon.
Pero hindi doon nagtapos ang mga pagsubok para sa magkapatid. Nagsimula silang magkaroon ng pagtatalo at banggaan.

Gusto ni Kim na magpahinga si Lakam nang isang buwan.
Sabi ni Kim: “Ako ang nagagalit sa kanya. Minsan umiiyak na ako sa sobrang galit ko sa kanya. Pinapangaralan ko siya. Matigas ang ulo niya.”

Pero ayaw ni Lakam na “makulong” sa bahay nang isang buwan.
Paliwanag ni Lakam: “I feel yung depression mo, you were sick and you were about to die… parang hindi pa ako naka-get over. Life is really short kasi we never know what’s gonna happen tomorrow.”

Matapos ang malubhang pagkakasakit at near-death experience, hindi lang depression ang dinanas ni Lakam—nagkaroon siya ng YOLO (You Only Live Once) mindset.
Naadik siya sa pagsusugal. Madalas daw siyang makita sa Solaire o sa hotel casino.

Nawalan si Lakam ng daan-daang milyong piso — mula sa kinikita ni Kim Chiu — dahil sa pagsusugal sa nakalipas na dalawang taon.

Kahit nang madiskubre ang nangyayari, napakaunawa ni Kim sa sitwasyon noong una. Sinubukan talaga nilang ayusin at pagalingin si Lakam — para tumigil siya at gumanda ang lagay.

Maging noong Nobyembre 5, 2025, naiulat pa na nagkabati na ulit sina Kim Chiu at Lakam.
Pero kahit matapos ang pagkakasundo, wala pa ring nagbago at patuloy ang nangyayaring pinsala kay Kim Chiu at sa kanyang negosyo/negosyo.

Kumuha raw ng pera sa vault o sa condo. Tapos ibinenta pa raw ang isang condo nang walang pahintulot ni Kim.
Kaya wala nang ibang pagpipilian si Kim Chiu kundi idemanda ang sariling kapatid — ang babaeng tinawag niya sa isang tribute post noong 2020 bilang kanyang “number one critic, my number one fan, my superwoman.”
Malaki ang ibig sabihin ng kasong isinampa ni Kim — ang qualified theft ay nangangahulugang nagkaroon ng matindi at seryosong abuso sa tiwala.

Makakasuhan lang ang isang tao ng qualified theft kung ang akusado ay isang taong may lubos at kumpletong tiwala ng biktima — kung nasa espesyal siyang posisyon na madali at malakihan siyang makapagnakaw mula sa biktima.
Dito, si Lakam Chiu ay parehong kapatid at business manager ni Kim Chiu. Kaya nasa isang fiduciary relationship siya.
Ang fiduciary relationship ay isang ugnayan kung saan ang isang tao (ang fiduciary) ay kailangang kumilos para sa kabutihan ng isa (ang beneficiary) nang may katapatan, pag-iingat, at mabuting loob.

Karaniwang halimbawa ng qualified theft ay pagnanakaw ng kasambahay, empleyado, o mga manager na pinagkatiwalaan nang husto.

Kaya habang maayos ang lahat bago magkasakit si Lakam, maaaring magsilbing babala ang kaso ni Kim Chiu tungkol sa pagsasama ng negosyo at pamilya.

Hindi lang daan-daang milyong piso ang nawala kay Kim Chiu—pinaghirapan niyang pera iyon. Pero pati ang kanyang kapatid ay halos nawala rin sa kanya.
Sa pagsasampa ng kaso, maaaring hindi na niya mabawi ang pera — at posible pang makulong ang sarili niyang kapatid.

Isang trahedyang doble ang tama.
Walang tamang desisyon o maling desisyon dito. Isa itong imposibleng desisyon.

A few hours later, the signal dropped. Then the radio went dead. By afternoon, rescuers found what was left of the aircraft — twisted metal scattered across a clearing, a small Philippine flag fluttering where the wind hadn’t burned everything down.

The names came next, each one a story of service cut short:
Captain Paulie Dumagan. Second Lieutenant Royce Louis Camigla. Sergeants Yves Sijub and John Christopher Golfo. Airmen First Class Ericson Merico and Ameer Khaidar Apion.

Six lives, six families waiting for the sound of boots on their doorstep — and getting a folded flag instead.

People like to call them heroes. And they were. But that word, “hero,” sometimes hides the harder truth — that their deaths weren’t inevitable. These men didn’t die in battle. Ask anyone in uniform and they’ll tell you the same thing: you fly because it’s your duty, not because you trust the machine. They’ve lost friends before. They know the hum of an aging rotor, the sound a turbine makes when it strains too hard. Still, they climb in, buckle up, and take off — because someone out there needs help.

One of Captain Dumagan’s colleagues, Major Rene Ilagan, said it best:
“Paulie used to say, ‘If not us, then who?’ He knew the risks. They all did. But what choice do we have when the storm comes?”

And that’s the heart of it, isn’t it? These crashes — the “emergency landings,” the “mechanical failures” — they’re not just bad luck. They’re symptoms of something deeper: old aircraft, limited budgets, broken procurement systems, and a culture that asks too much from people who already give everything.
