Bharatnatyam with Jessica Oliver, Part-1

I witnessed Bhartnatyam at its finest, performed solo by at the on The Friday Cultural Evening organised by and & Culture, Bengaluru, a weekly cultural celebration that is 43 years in running.

Jessica performed solo for an hour and a half in which she performed five different recitals starting with a Shiva Stuthi and ending with a Thillana.

An able and proud student of the her guru was herself in attendance at the performance, which is a great honor for the disciple.

The Tiger of Bharatpur

This February I took a bird photography tour of the Koeldaeo National Park, Bharatpur, Rajasthan, with .photo very ably mentored by young whom I fondly call "Gurujee", ever since. The highlight of the 4 day tour was on the last day, the prized sighting of the "Tiger of Bharatpur", the Indian Saras Crane. It's Siberian migratory cousin has not shown up in a while and we were not that lucky! However, our native Saras is no less of an "Epic" bird! I present the story of the Indian Saras with some pictures taken on 10-February-2026, near Fatehpur Sikri, Uttar Pradesh, India!

Odissi is traditionally a dance-drama genre of performance art that trace its foundations to Natya Shastra,the ancient Sanskrit text compiled by the mythical scholar Bharat Muni
